ABOUT The House of Lancaster (PA)

Second to None, First in the Fray, Rule Britannia!

Second to None, First in the Fray, Rule Britannia! All hail His Majesty King Henry V, King of England and of France, Lord of Ireland!

The House of Lancaster is a historically based clan for Persistent Age. It accepts any player who swears loyalty to His Majesty King Henry V, and his heirs, his cause and his dynasty, the Lancaster branch of the Royal House of Plantaganet. We rule London, unlike those fools in York. As long as you swear loyalty to His Majesty, you may enter the clan.

History about the House of Lancaster:

The Royal House of Lancaster gets its roots from the third son of King Edward III, John of Gaunt. Edward's first son, Edward the Black Prince, had one surviving son, Richard II, who left the throne without issue. King Edward's second son, Lionel, left only a daughter. At the time of Richard II's deposition, John was dead, and his son, Henry of Bollingbroke became King, the first King of the Lancasters. The York comes from a combined claim of descendants of Lionel and Edmund of Langley, the fourth son of Edward III. By pure agnatic Primogentiure, without a doubt, Henry IV is King. But by Agnatic-cognatic primogeniture, the Yorkist claimant, Richard Plantaganet, the Duke of York, is the true king. After the death of Henry IV, he was succeded by his son, Henry V. Henry conquered much of France, and lost few troops at it. A great victory was won at Agincourt, outnumbered over 5 to 1 Henry won with few casualties, inflicted thousands of casutlies and captured hundreds of nobles. Later, an agreement was made by the Treaty of Troyes that Henry would succeed Charles VI as King of France. However, Herny suddenly died in 1422, and Charles died two months later. England was then succeded by Henry's only son, Henry VI, and France was succeded by Charles VII, but not in Englands eyes. Henry VI was also crowned King of France, however, due to his young age and alleged insanity, the war was quickly lost and in 1453 Henry had lost all of his land in France except Calais. Infurated by the defeat in the war, two years later the Yorkists created civil war, claimint Edward was the true King.
The war raged for 30 years. Though Henry had a son, he was executed by Yorkists at the Battle of Tewkesbury, and the Lancastrian cause came to an end. After Henry VI's death, Yorks sat on the throne until 1485, until a descendant of John of Gaunt, Henry Tudor, took up arms against King Richard III. Though he was techincally a Lancastrian, his claim came through his mother, and thus with her marriage to Edmund Tudor, he was a Tudor. After his army killed Richard in battle, he was declared King of England, Ireland and France. In order to compromise with the Yorkists, Henry married Elizabeth of York, the first daughter of Edward IV. The Lancastrian dynasty ends.
