House Valant of Vayejeg

Along the north banks of the Curin river stands a small enclave of Swadian colonists and Nordic freeholders who now owe fealty to the Swadian Crown. The people of Vayejeg, renamed Valantford, are a people changed by the invasion of Sturgian and Nordic incursions, and most especially the Swadian conquest, where their old rights are trampled over by the Swadian nobles. House Valant, on the other hand, was quite well regarded in Praven, though unknown outside the Court of the King. During the time of the Empire, House Valant was one of the great Vlandian Marcherlords in the north, and so their reintroduction to the area is done with some historic right to the areas, which has caused some division, seeing Vayejeg as a meager reward for their continued service. Still, barely a month after the conquest, the Baron has changed hands between the late Lord Valant and his sons, adhering to the native Nordic traditions, which they claim are somewhat Vlandian in origin, much to the dismay of the local Swadian houses. The newly elected Baron of Vayejeg has promised to uphold Nordic traditions, under a Makerist, Swadian rule, calling themselves "Vlandians" before Swadian.
