Doctor Who's Matt Smith set to make a cameo role in the new Doctor Who series

He's testing the fickle Hollywood waters after achieving phenomenal success in the BBC hit Doctor Who.
But Matt Smith hasn't forgotten the British show that earned him fame as the tousled-haired Time Lord.
According to reports, the 31-year-old has reportedly agreed to slip back into his tweed jackets and regrow his floppy hair for a brief return to the sci-fi show this Autumn.

He is reportedly in discussions with programme boss Steven Moffat who is giving him another chance to finally sign off as the eleventh incarnation of the Doctor.

Matt's popularity and brilliance in the series - he was the first Doctor to be nominated for a BAFA - has prompted TV bosses to enter long negotiations to bring him back in a cameo capacity.

The role of the Doctor is currently filled by Peter Capaldi but Mr Moffat is keen for Matt to finally sign off as the monster-busting galactic hero alongside his sidekick, former Emmerdale star Jenna-Louise Coleman.
A show source told the Mirror: 'Doctor Who’s sidekick Clara, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, is struggling to accept that Capaldi is still her Doctor when she receives a phone call from Matt, which he made prior to his regeneration.
'It sounds confusing but he is ringing the future from the past and wants to assure Clara this new man is still Doctor Who.'

Capaldi, 55, currently starring in BBC1’s The Musketeers, and Jenna, 27, are filming the new series now.
It is thought Matt’s phone call will be seen early in the run, due to be shown in the autumn.
