About the ArchaeoGaming Collective

The term "archaeogaming" refers to a unique subdiscipline of archaeology, in which archaeologists apply scientific framework and methodology to in-game worlds in order to investigate them as digital landscapes, sites, and artifacts. This subdiscipline can also have real world applications, as games often serve as a glimpse into past ideals or social commentary specific to an era, and are sometimes discarded after use – becoming artifacts of the past for archaeologists of the future...

The ArchaeoGaming Collective (AGC) was established in 2020 in order to help bolster this type of game-based research, and to share it with a broader, worldwide audience.
