History of the 29th: In 1702 the regiment was raised up by a former Coldstream Guards Officer. In 1770, eight men of the 29th were tried for murder after what had happened in the Boston Massacre, which gave them the nicknames: "Vein Openers" and "Blood Suckers". Although there original nickname was "Two and Hook". In the Napoleonic Wars, it took so much casualty, that it had to return to England to regain strength. After that they continued on to Canada to fight in the War of 1812.
