Walk through the doors and it’s like stepping into a zoo where the animals get fortnightly payments. Out front, eshays in bum bags are rolling kids for their TNs, screaming “cuz” every second word, while some bloke in an AU Falcon does circle work in the carpark because his rego ran out six months ago and the only plates on the car are from Kmart.

Inside, you’ll find three types of people: the lifers who’ve been on the dole since Kevin Rudd was relevant, the junkies who treat the waiting room like a shooting gallery pre-game, and the single mums trying to keep their kids from licking the windows. The staff? They’ve already died inside — they’re just government-funded NPCs running on instant coffee and spite.

Centrelink: where the dreams are small, the queues are long, and the only thing moving fast is the bloke legging it with your wallet.
