Early Access Review
Remembering it is early access, I love this game.
Looking forward to more development though, as I finished the game after maybe 20 hours of gameplay, and I am hungry for more.
There are definitely rough edges, but they have a solid base.
Good RPG mechanics including personalities and voices with personalities. Choices that matter to a degree. Good D&D combat, good story so far.
Supportive and thoughtful development team from the looks!

I just want more.. would love modding tools, and would like to see some procedural generation, and side quests to promote replayability, but this is still only early access.

Great Game!
Really great story well told in an atmospheric picturesque role playing game. I have thoroughly loved the dive into this world!

It is a great game, apart from the following that could be improved (because it is quicker than stating its good points in detail): RPG aspects so far feel like they won't affect the game a huge deal (I assume they will, I am only half way through), and I suspect replay-ability will be not as great due to this. The different choices will change how you fight primarily, although again I am only half way through the game. The camera during fights is a little annoying, but manageable. Would love to fast travel from anywhere. would love more content and more quests, as the current content and quests are great fun!
Looking forward to whatever spider is doing next!

Great Game: Very good replayability with some good mod support options to change it around as you need. I can't fault the graphics and the sound track. Still playing it regularly years on.

This is a good game with a dedicated developer who listens.

I am playing it a lot. It is a lot like the original Master of Orion.
It has spying, diplomacy, colony building, tactical battles, and ship building and design, different races with different play-styles, with well thought out partially random tech trees that will change how the games plays each time.

Graphics still have some improvements to be made (they are still working on it), but I don't find it problematic at all.

It is made to be easily played with less micromanaging. There are sliders to control production, and they default as you imagine you would want it to default (really well designed)

(ie. when you have finished terraforming, it defaults to building more factories, and once the factories are all built, it automatically puts your money into research unless you are already building ships. Very smooth to manage.)

I do find I am ending turns without too much to do at times, but that is really not a trouble, because I am not micromanaging stuff I don't need to worry about.

Nice well thought out game! True MoO successor!

Brilliant Game, written by a small group of committed fans.
Sure there are some definitely non-game breaking bugs, but I have had no trouble playing around these.
If you loved Baldurs Gate 2, you will love this!
I believe this is the spiritual successor of BG2.
The game is deep, and beautiful. There are a lot of mechanics involved, but if you have played BG2, you will fit right in.
The Mechanics do need some background reading up on if you are unsure on some things.
As far as an RPG goes it is awesome.
I can't put it down, and am constantly rerolling characters to try different flavours out.

Give it a few months, and I believe most of the bugs will be squashed! But don't feel you need to wait... it is still awesome now as it is!

Absolutely loving this game!
The mix of tactical, RPG and some strategy with a good story makes this a winner!
Some small things to straighten out in the future no doubt, and the potential for growth / DLCs is massive!
Multiplayer opportunities are also a positive, but not necessary.
Recommended!

Planar Conquest is addictive! Very much like the original Master of Magic released so long ago. It varies from some other games like this in the market in that the magic system is very expansive and strategic / tactical. Knowing what spell to cast when and where is so important.

The different armies and abilities means you can play the game in so many different ways. City development is fairly linear, but it is quite deep and gives you good room for specialisation or generalisation as you desire.

The AI is strong! In fact, I don't think I could play against archmage and win (well perhaps I might be able to, but generally the highest setting is very difficult). There are some ways the AI could improve, however I would imagine the AI programming at the moment is an extremely complex entity. Tactical battles finds me trying to protect my weaker casters, and I never completely blitz an enemy.

Heroes are Strong, and perhaps too strong at end game due to equipment and the abilities they give them. But they are a fun unit in the game, that adds to the RPG feel of the game.

Graphics is ok... It is pleasing to the eye. I would not say it is cutting edge lol. But I don't play this game for the graphics. In saying that, I do enjoy the graphics, but I am not falling over in my reviews based upon the graphics.

Overall, this is an addictive, complex and deep spell casting, city and army building fantasy strategy game, that leaves me wanting more!

If I was to score it myself I would give it 8.5/10!

If you loved Master of Magic, then this game is for you. This is a Strategy game with depth and character. Graphics are good (not brilliant), and the depth of Master of Magic make this a great game. Truly I am addicted to this game, just like I was with Master of Magic, however I think this will ultimately easily surpass MoM given that the developers are continuing to improve it, and add more features. This game so far is the best 4X fantasy game in the past few years.
