This game has fundamentally changed (and improved) my life. It has changed everything that I have thought a video game could be. This game has been a boon to my marriage, a salve to my mental health, and a light in the dark. I cannot recommend getting this game more.

I really enjoy Civ VII. Yes, it is different than previous installments of the franchise. It plays much more like a board game -- but I love that. The game already has a great deal of variety in every play through with the different leaders and the age transitions. I would love to see more leaders and more transitions. I would also like to see some alternative military and economic paths for the exploration age. They feel a bit limiting to me (and they really promote European-style colonialism vs. other forms of empire building that existed in the era). Overall though, it's a good game in a good package. I keep coming back to it. The game is gorgeous and satisfying. Definitely better after they figured out a lot of the bugs.

The release was poor because of the bugs. That I didn't appreciate. Now though, it's a quite solid game.

Overall a great game and entry into the 4X genre. It is a lot more replayable than other games in the genre. In particular, the cultural advancement mechanic, central to the game, works like a charm. This is a new game and with that, there are issues that do need addressing. Pacing of the late game, like with most 4X games, is a bit clunky. Pollution is interesting but too opaque at the moment. Religion could be expanded upon.

All of this being said, it is a wonderful game that I thoroughly reccomend.

A great example on how grand-strategy is the BEST genre around. This is an excellent game that can be quite a challange to pick up, but certainly is worth your time.
