Cult of the Lamb has secured a permanent spot in my personal Top 10. It checks all the boxes for what I would consider a “cozy game.” I realize this game is about ritualistic cult magic, sacrifice, and straight-up murdering GAWDS, but have you seen the art style? Have you heard the music? The game is funny, stylish and strategic in trapping players. I accept this.
At its core, Cult of the Lamb is a magnificent hybrid of base building, resource management, critter collecting, and rogue lite dungeon diving. This may sound overwhelming until you realize the game is very well paced. Tired of managing your cult? Go recruit new followers. Tired of recruiting? Meet the local NPCs. Tired of socializing? Go murder monsters in a dungeon. It truly has a little something for everyone.

*PROS
-Outstanding art style and world building. The game is gorgeous from start to finish. Cult subject matter has never looked this adorable.
-A fantastic cast of characters. Your followers each have names and personalities, which means you will become emotionally attached to them, and you will make questionable decisions because of it.
-Soundtrack by River Boy. Amazing.
-Developer updates and DLC. The team behind this game continues to support it and recently released a fantastic, yet harder DLC called Woolhaven.
-Followers need care, but respect your time. They require feeding, healing, and occasional motivational sermons but they do NOT grab you by the collar every five minutes demanding your attention. I'm looking directly at you, THE ALTERS. You know what you did!
-Boss battles are genuinely satisfying. They are hefty bullet hell scenarios that will humble you in early game. However, when you finally figure out the patterns it will make you feel like….a GAWD?

*CONS
Dungeon visibility can be a mess. Some battle arenas are so packed with environmental clutter (bushes, stones, grass, decorative nonsense) that it is easy to lose track of your own character in the chaos. It smooths out with play, but expect some frustrating moments before it clicks.
