awful game. I expected what it advertised- a stand alone DLC for saint's row 4. that is, a shorter campaign than SR4, some retextured minigames, some new weapons and clothes.

instead, I've taken to calling it "saint's row !V: no fun for anyone edition"

seriously, think of anything you liked in SR4, and I bet it's not in here, or is in here but messed up.

liked finding an awesome car to drive? nope. all the cars are half ruined hulks, some of them even on fire. and even if you found something sweet...

liked saving your car at a body shop so you could cruize the streets in your custom ride, or even a tank? nope. stores are completely cut, replaced by a whole ONE flavor of vending machine! no way to recall any vehicles

liked those cool race minigames where you run though checkpoints to try and beat the clock? nope. we replaced them with a flying minigame, which works basically the same, but with our poorly-controlled flying mechanic.

llked that thing in the insurance fraud minigame, where if you hit a car just right, you'd go flying for large points/distance? nope. now they explode on contact because ♥♥♥♥ you.

liked shopping for outfits? nope.

how about just running around causing havock? well you could, but without any shops, there's no way to get rid of your noteriety. so doing literally anything that increases it is basically a delayed death sentance as they just keep coming after you.

is it just me, or should a stand-alone DLC have more features than the game it came from, or at least not less?

that's the infuriating part- it would have been so easy to make this game at least OK- it should have just been money in the bank. instead, it's a steamer that I honestly wish I hadn't picked up off of the summer sale.

I'm a huge fan of the deus ex franchise, and this latest installment only dissapoints in the difficulty department. while the exploration, stealth, and rpg-esque augmentation aspects that truely define the deus ex experience are definitly there, the enemy AI leaves much to be desired. there is exactly one place where the AI becomes challenging- the hive's security, if you trip an alarm in the lower halls. because there's little cover, these "cutting edge" bots will rush your last known position en masse, which only works due to their sheer numbers. the bosses were an interesting challenge at first, but as soon as you figure out a typhoon will either kill them entirely, or severely damage them (depending on your difficulty level) they become much less so

tl;dr, this game had a lot of potential, but the piss-poor AI wrecks it. even so, it's well worth a play-through
