Early Access Review
The brackets below is an old review, it has been revised.
As of the update there is finally customization options to make the game more enjoyable, less night raids, no durability on tools, etc. thank you devs for listening to your player base. The game is enjoyable and hope to see more, QOL improvements.

Would like to see a large zombie chase the machine and the only way to survive it out last it till morning with speed 3.

[This game was on my radar since it was announced and was exciting to play it. I stubbornly played solo and was able to unlock the forge, expanded bag, glider and bronze bars so I feel I can give some good feedback.

This game has a good premise but it's a very stressful survival game, coming from a solo player. I do not have people to play with at all times. There is no crafting from storage which I suggested back in the Alpha. The degradation of tools is beyond irritating since limited bag space for crafting replacements or what not and hopefully you can find an upgrade in the while and it has low durability. You are FORCED to defend the machine every other night and hopefully you have enough mat, strength, right blueprint to defend yourself.

If you run across the map and take too long figuring out a parkour puzzle then night falls on a raid you'll run back to the machine like a scared paranoid rabbit. I agree with the other poster that the zombie raids get more progressively harder and overwhelming they honestly are not fun to deal with. I hate playing a game where I feel squishy.

In Raft if the player explores an area for extended periods of time you don't need to worry about the shark destroying your raft, in THIS game you do regardless due to raids every other night.

Do not get me started in the quicklime events for reloading ranged weapons, that pissed me off more than anything. I'm fighting an enormous zombie horde solo and I have to time my reload times? That forces me into melee mode and if my awesome weapon is about to break I would have one lower as a backup due to limited materials and bag space? yea GG fighting them off. looting every corpse is annoying, add that with inventory management

Right now I cannot recommend or continue playing it's not fun. I spend more time rubber banding back to the machine to offload, or hopefully find the right blueprint in time, just to survive. I will return when the game updates. I wish to become more powerful as I progress not to be squishy because I can't defend myself. Add auto turrets or a peace mode, some of us just want to concentrate on building only]

Bought this game on a whim

I ran into a few bugs with unlocking more recipes on the steam version but the developer is very responsive and fixed them, within the same day! I'm impressed. The game is pretty fun so far and I'm enjoying myself and it doesn't feel too repetitive. For me the main reason is replay factor and I can see myself playing this one for awhile. It's early access and I can see it having great potential.

This is exactly how I wanted to play Minecraft. Zombies slow during the day, crazy at night. Create and build a fortress with tower defense elements.
Random Gen is great, the game never gets boring but some maps are barren without any buildings. You can solve that by creating seeds that the community has found.

Another great feature is you can dig down into the ground and have an underground fortress. You're not restricted to being in plain sight.

I have played Project Zomboid and I prefer this game.
