Early Access Review
The sprint / dash changes are incredibly based. Enemy design in i-frame based combat is getting really tired, and SG are able to things with enemies that are fun and cool that would be insanely trivial in games like Hades 1, Furi, HLD, etc. I genuinely believe that without this change, Hades 2 would feel stale, or like DLC.

My only complaint is that we need some accessibility options for players who have a hard time holding buttons. I would love to be able to change a button hold into a two-button press, even if that meant less precise timings on certain moves and combos. As such, I can only play for about 2 hours before I need to take stop playing for the day.

While not quite as hard as the PS2 era Armored Cores, AC6 still brings a nice challenge. Builds are fun, combat is fun, and pursuing the multiple endings is a blast.

This game is janky and old, but the core mechanics (a D20 TTRPG) are solid and the story and character writing, (while a bit tropey) are still solid! Above all, this captures the feeling of Star Wars better and does more interesting things with the morality of Jedi and Sith better than anything after it besides KOTOR2. If you love DnD or Star Wars, you absolutely must play this game.

I spent $20 to play this game for less than 4 hours and spend 2 years talking about it as much as possible. This game made me cry, and not in a Big Dramatic Scene, but in a small intimate moment. Just a few good tears and a hearty laugh, and right back on to my mission. The type of game you can beat in one evening. Great for the type of person who enjoys 100% small choice-based games like The Forgotten City. I don't 100% things but I imagine you could 0-100% this on a rainy day or day you call in sick to work. This game does a lot of small things right, and even at $20 for 3.8 hours I'd say is well worth the price of admission. A better value than any movie in a theater I've ever seen.

This game is a different kind of hard... Very charming, pretty funny, the most fun I've had with a pixel sim in a long time. Definitely going to keep playing. Lots of interesting decisions to make, I'm definitely going to go back and to another play through to see what other outcomes there are (and do a better job)

A beautiful, absolutely harrowing game. Just brutal. Not for the faint of heart.

I prefer the combat of Zero and Kiwami, but this game is still very fun and very good. Kiryu is the best man. Majima has some great moments too. I cried three times during one play session once. The emotional beats of Kiwami 2 hit harder than the other 2 Yakuza games I played. The Cabaret Club minigame from Zero is back, only this time Kiryu is managing it. Great game.

As a roguelike game - A+ fantastic I absolutely love it.

As a Supergiant Game.. - C pretty good but the worst parts of this game are my favorite parts of Supergiant games.

Very good persistent progress, better lore / story than most rougelike games, fun weapons and great combat.

I love Greek / Roman mythology, but I'm so invested in it that I don't find it necessary to engage with Hades' narrative because it mostly feels like I'm just getting character development for deities whose personalities I already know inside and out.

If you want a good roguelike, absolutely buy this game. If you want the next incredible Supergiant Games title, think about what Supergiant Games are to you before purchasing. To me, Pyre is the pinnacle of SG design philosophies, so Hades slightly misses the mark for me on that scale. But, again, that's just me, and I still love Hades.

Buy Hades, support Supergiant Games.

Few games are able to so seemlessly go back and forth between deathly serious and audaciously whacky without breaking the integrity of their own experience. While Yakuza 0 is not a perfect game, nor a game for everybody, if it looks interesting then there's definitely enjoyment for you. While the narrative does pull a few punches, leaving it feeling more like an anime than a story about hardboiled yakuza, the voice-acting, direction, and cinematography keep you invested during every cutscene. The Yakuza franchise is an experience wholly its own, and there's no better place to jump in than Yakuza 0.
