All the usual Supergiant Games stuff is here: good music, naration, gameplay and art.

Just like the first time I played it around ~2015, I still don’t really get where all the hype is coming from, lol.

Pros:

1) Visually, it hasn’t really aged.
2) The gameplay isn’t terrible — you can mix things up quite a bit thanks to the variety of weapons and optional challenges.
3) There is some replayability.

Cons:

1) The narrator becomes exhausting over time.
2) The soundtrack is very forgettable.
3) The gameplay is a fairly primitive hack’n’slash — which would be fine, but I had issues with the very small maps, the camera being too zoomed in, and the sheer number of extremely intrusive enemies and projectiles. In the later stages especially, so much is happening at once that it’s impossible to keep track of anything — total chaos (and not in a good way).
4) Too many weapons. You can equip two at a time, and there are around ~10 total… but it doesn’t really make sense. They can be grouped into 2–3 basic types (melee, ranged, and something in-between / kind of usable in both cases). There’s no meaningful reason to switch from one weapon to another within the same category — you only do it either out of boredom, or
because the developers force you to, since when you find a new weapon, you’re required to use it for the next few minutes.
5) Too long. Even though the game is relatively short, the formula becomes tiring anyway, because both gameplay-wise and visually the game stays almost completely the same from start to finish.

Beautiful game. I played this recently for the first time after falling in love with the Hades games, and I can see that ADN here.
