I think this is one of those relic games of the past that people have high nostalgia for. I played Bastion about 15 years after the hype died. I didn't really care for it, but I can understand how this game led the way for other Supergiant games. It's a bit clunky but if you want to play through a piece of video game history, then I would buy this on sale.

Huge indie game for its time, art direction is phenomenal, holds up very well today as well. Not an essential game, but good to add to the library for sure.

Bastion is one of my favourite games of all time, but I can't recommend it. Gorgeous artstyle, a soundtrack that will stay with you long after playing, a simple but engaging plot - and the omniscient narrator describing your actions as they play out works perfectly, better than all the imitators that would follow. His gravelly tone piping up in response to your every success and failure, much as the bricks of this disaster-struck world do. But can't recommend it at this point however because it has been without support for years, for about a decade there has been a consistent issue where a specific enemy type will always cause a crash to desktop on PC - without a fix. The only way to get around this, and other, issues is to revert to the 'legacy' version from 2014. Supergiant built a beautiful game, and let it crumble - thematically appropriate, but annoying.
