Early Access Review
Tremendous potential here. There's already tons to the game, as of the time of this writing- PLENTY of enough fun and mechanical depth to justify the price- but what excites me most is all the places I can see the game going as it continues to be updated and expanded. The game itself is a colony builder like Dwarf Fortress, but where Songs of Syx differentiates itself is the emphasis on building an empire of multiple settlements with hundreds to thousands of units in each settlement. You can still drill down to individual units and read about their thoughts and information about their personalities- but they tend to fade into an aggregate mass pretty quickly (though you CAN favorite individual units if you want to make your friends into pig-men and throw them into the meat grinder of your front lines- or make them nobles.) In each settlement you must set up food production, trade networks, industry, housing, trade networks, city infrastructure etc etc. Songs of Syx also features a battle simulator capable of simulating pitched battles between thousands of units if you're a Tactics Pervert. I'm not so I just tell my units to charge and then hope I win lmao

tl;dr if you like Dwarf Fortress (Or Rimworld and you're ready to cut your teeth on something harder) you are not going to be disappointed in Songs of Syx. I can't wait to see where the game goes from here.
