It's a game that looks and feels like it came from the 2010s era, but not in a bad sense. For someone used to graphics and junk of the previous decade, this game feel... right. Sometimes I forget I'm playing an actively developed game.

There's a couple of issues I've had so far, like awkward autosaves, enemies using a shield aura or your ship randomly imploding upon any form of physical contact with anything, including a different, already sunken ship. The game also feels unfairly unbalanced. You're way too underpowered for the first several hours only to quickly grind up cash and skills and become almost unkillable for the most part. It's just the right "hard" gameplay from early 2000s alright but I didn't quite like it even back then and the pacing and balancing could really use a touch-up. I also don't see the point in trinkets, honestly, their buffs usually aren't that significant (despite what the game tries to force you to believe in through the tutorial and loading tips) and the fact that they quickly run out just makes them not seem worth the effort.

Despite all that, it's still a very pleasant game to play, especially for someone who enjoyed Tortuga and Port Royale a lot. Definite recommendation for any fan of a pirate genre.

A classic match-3 RPG adventure game. I spent hundreds of hours playing it from a CD off-Steam and regularly return to play a couple boards every now and again. Simple and fun, with good, old anime-ish artstyle. A big recommend to everyone.

To put it simply: it's a great game in the spirit of Civilization. It still has its kinks and quirks the devs probably should work out, but it's an overall great and fun game to play. And the game can be completed much, much faster than it could in the old titles, which is both great and a bummer. Once the initial patches roll out and we get more game customisation options, this will be a very solid game.

If you expect a Civ6-esk game or something "familiar" to other strategies, don't even bother with this one, just go play Civ6 and/or said other strategies. Civ7 is a game in its own style and if you go into it expecting things, you'll likely be disappointed, and that's a you issue, not the game's or devs'. Once you accept Civ7 for what it is, a unique entry into the franchise, and not a reskin of older titles, you'll quickly realise it's a good, solid title for many hours to come and go.

A continuation staying true to the older titles, fresh but nostalgic, improved but familiar. Definite recommendation.

I used to like this game a lot in the past, despite not having played all that much of it. However, somehow, it became unplayable right now.
I have reinstalled it after several months and loaded an old save and the game became unplayable. Enemies simply disappear off the map, not allowing me to finish skirmishes and forcing me to retreat, each time costing me reputation, money and morale.
Additionally, the game has been left with a lot still needing to be developed, it has never been a finished product and it's sad to see the devs just up and giving up on it,

Early Access Review
It's a great game that takes little getting used to if you are familiar with any similar game. But even so, all the mechanics are explained in a simple but effective manner, allowing both new and veteran players to quickly get their grasp around the basics and figure out the rest.
The grind is, well, real, getting your equipment in order needs a couple of contracts but once you get the basics, everything else is simply convenience. Unlike games like Phasmo, where getting additional pieces of equipment and upgrades is basically a necessity to be successful for a non-hardcore player, here you can manage without too many problems, being able to identify and cross out certain evidence types a lot easier.
Additional great feature is that the ghost has a hold of the entire house, it adds to the spookiness while at the same time increasing the difficulty but making some evidence simpler to capture.
And, let's not forget, the exile mechanics. While simple, it's a nice touch to the game, finally allowing us to get back at those pesky ghosts for killing our friends. Or not, if you're good at running those games, then just do it for money.

The gameplay's smooth and engaging, missions are unique and fun to play and the returning cast of characters is easy to get involved in as well.
However, limited number of heists, low randomness of heists and weird loadout-related choices make the game quickly become repetetive.
It's definitely a game with huge potential, especially given the statements from developers regarding the future of PD3.

One of the best great strategies up to date. Nearly limitless possibilities for empire creation, plenty of options for map generation and randomization, several starting conditions. And on top of that: mod support.
The game offers a lot of replayability and role-play value where even a sub-optimal species or empire may turn out overpowered in the late game.
And once you start putting in money for the DLCs, each and every only adds to the experience and is well worth the money, even if at first they may strike as a little bit too expensive.

A great, beautiful game to jump into no matter if you have just a couple of minutes to spare or plan a several hours long session. Exploration, trade, combat, mining... the game has a lot to offer. True that most of that starts feeling repetitive pretty quickly but it is still fun with a good podcast or with friends on the voice chat.
The only negative is the lack of fully implemented VR support.
