@MkIII: From what I remember when working with the mod, the ground textures in that game are of a "typical" size used for hardware-accelerated rendering. That made it difficult to fit the grid just right, since the textures aren't "pixel perfect". The grid is probably made with basic line draw calls. Also, they use some special "blending" textures with alpha transparency to make the different ground types flow into eachother. How they did that, I haven't thought much about. It's a bit peculiar, perhaps. I think they were trying to make the game, or map, appear less grid-like than it is. At least that's what I took notice of, but yeah, I haven't delved into it. Maybe I should :o). Anyways, if you still think I can help with something, go ahead and ask. I'm looking to learn myself. Maybe there's a forum of like-minded here on Steam too, that I don't know about. I tend to do a lot of googling! :)

@Vermilicious No, it wasn't just Age of Empire II, it's more that I find the way the game renders graphics interesting and I'd like to understand it a bit better. If you don't have the time, let me know, no worries! And thanks for your answer :)

@MkIII: Hello. I'm sorry I didn't see your message first. It's been quite a while since I made that, and honestly it wasn't a big deal. I just drew some lines on some textures, with a bit of trial and error. It's not really "gamedev" level stuff, so I'm not sure how useful any answers I have would be to you, although I happen to be tinkering with my own engine. Is/are your question(s) specific to AoE II?
