This game is a hex based TBS, have a few mechanics and is simple to learn, that's nice because the complexity resides on the player tactics, not on the game knowlegde. The only weird thing this game has is that at first glance it seems a little bit weird that the ranged attacks are melee, but after playing it you undestand it, it makes the battles between units so close range, you will end with lots of units in front of the enemies that are blocking your way, like a war front.
This game also offers a campaign mode, that consists on levels/scenarios with objetives you need to achieve to win and in each scenario you can recall your previous units so you can reach the last levels with a very experienced army. The stories are all connected in some way because each one occurs in different chronological time, and the stories are the typical fantasy thing, you need to kill the demon king, you need to kill the evil necromancer etc... There's also cooperatives campaigns.
The best thing about this game is that is free and non- propietary software, so you can play it in your gentoo machine natively.
