Culmination of what SGG have learned from their previous games, and their 1st sequel. A delight to play through as with all their games. For being a sequel there was a lot riding on "outdoing" Hades 1; I believe they hit a happy medium of being different enough from Hades 1 without losing what made it so fun to begin with. Some people are commenting that it is slower pace and yeah it absolutely is but higher "heat" levels definitely crank up the speed and complexity with more variety in builds.

One of the best souls like games metroidvanias in the current era of gaming. Helps scratch that Silksong itch. Leans much more into parrying than into dodging; more challenging and took me some getting used to but ultimately feels much more rewarding when fights are properly executed.

I played through the whole series before it came onto Steam, hence the low hours in the game.

With that being said DROD continues to be a major hidden gem of a puzzle series. Gunthro and the Epic Blunder is essentially a prequel to the DROD storyline, and a nicely balanced and fleshed out introduction into the series. This game also serves to contain all the other previous games released in the form of DLC - except for The Second Sky - which is the current final entry in the DROD series.

King Dugan's Dungeon is the original and the most aged entry in the series, the storyline is barebones but should still be played if you crave more puzzles and classic level designs. If a heavier story is what you wish you can skip on to Journey to Rooted Hold and continue on with The City Beneath. Finally the Second Sky (standalone game) can be played to conclude the storyline.

Smitemaster's Selection DLC's offer even more official level packs if you still need more brain teasers.

As another reviewer mentioned a recent and massive player collaboration designed dungeon by the name of The Descent of King Hesper [forum.caravelgames.com] was released. It is an enormous collection of levels and puzzles and frankly should be enough to tide us over until the next DROD installation.

9/10, one of those games that will have you up at 2 AM trying to get the perfect combination of herbs and shrooms to make the least wasteful potion.

Can be played as casually or sweaty as desired with built in difficulty levels to choose from. Default difficulty is more than sufficient to have enough potion materials to experiment with constantly as well as to progress.

I would recommend haggling pretty much everyone if you prefer a slower pace since you get more gold and herbs along with less reputation and thus chapter progress. Also don't google the teleportation nodes and the location of potions on the map as that can easily ruin part of the charm of the game, not to mention actually slow down your progress as you don't pick up extra experience bubbles by taking less efficient routes.

On a final note I should mention that the building mode button is also used to move around plants in your garden as well as furniture once you unlock the ability via the new talent tree. Might not be obvious to some people (like me :D).

The only negative I can think of is that overlapping issues can happen in the enchanted garden where herbs/shrooms can hide one another depending on their sprites so that rearranging them might be necessary to gather them.

The quintessential way to play Half-Life 1. Pretty much the modern HL2 style reimagining of the original.
