Disappointing. I had just finished The Excavation of Hob's Barrow (great game) and really wanted a good folk horror game. The pencil art ended up backfiring and makes things feel unnatural and difficult to see. I needed a guide just to get me 2 1/2 hours through the game. Not sure how found and figured out half the things did. Once I crossed a gate, the sun just went down and enemies flocked to me I had no clue how to deal with them. Apparently I missed some combat tutorial. It was really creepy though. I may try this again some time. I'll update my review if my opinion changes.

Most of the negative reviews are baffling. Most obviously didn’t read the store page or play the demo.

I tried the demo when I was in a bad mood but after playing it, I couldn’t wait for its release.

Clear your head of previous titles in the genre because this is not trying to be any of those.

The store page and the demo has almost everything you need to know about the setting, mechanics, writing, etc. Try the demo and you will know if you will like this game.

I would have to be on opiates to slow down and enjoy this game. But that’s because something is wrong with me, not the game. It’s absolutely beautiful. Pixel art rivals the Kingdom series. Music is great. The sounds are authentic. If you can slow down and enjoy this, make sure you don’t reach a point in life where you get too ‘hustle a bustle’ to stop and smell the roses.

Gays Done is a 3rd person open world survival crafting zombie game. It's really cool. Co-op option and building would have made it 'game of the decade'. My only gripes are the zombie sounds. They can be 30 yards away but it sounds like they're right behind you. It creates Jump scare anxiety. Lastly, the motorcycle's gas mileage is unrealistically bad. Definitely get it eventually.

Don't sleep on this. This game is fire! Just got this 12 days ago and I've played 55 hours so far. Very addictive.
It's by far the best in the 'vs. horde' 'Survivor' 'Bullet Heaven' genre. Progress is slow but every second of it is a blast because of the different ways, modes, challenges, etc. I've been playing single player. Co-op must be incredible.

It's really cool to see what a solid dev team can do with this genre's concept. I still have tons of gaming left w/ this one yet I am already wanting more modes, DLC or a sequel.

Thumbs up with the $10 sale. Everything looks and runs great.
You need to be invested in the story to enjoy it.

Bad - fetch quests, save system. No manual saves, no save & quit, (I usually have to play the last 10 mins over again when I launch the game).

Thumbs up with a caveat.

Great graphics with Vikings theme but pretty hardcore. Get ready to grind.

Unlike games in the ‘vs horde’ genre, the player progression is very slow.

There are only 3 maps. One was just added the 1st week of March 2025.

Muspelheim Is the most difficult and is the source of frustration for many, especially on insane difficulty.

Successful runs depend on whether you can get specific skills maxed within a certain time or you might as well start over. I think there should be more ways to win. You get class skills and god skills to choose from. You’ll need to make use of banishing, rerolls and seals to get a strong build.

There are no achievements during early access which I think is a mistake.

If you are a fan of the genre and like a challenge, you should get it but expect some frustrations.

Edit/update - problem resolved.

Original review:

Nightmare login loop. Asks me to sign in with my Gaijin account. I log in successfully but it keeps asking me to login. It says my Steam account is successfully associated with the game but I still can't get in. Check the Steam forums and there are so many posts with varying login problems that it's daunting to find a solution. Get it together Gaijin!

I'll write more later on but had to post this because the negative reviews are ridiculous.

This is an AMAZING game, even at full price. It's beautiful and the combat is very good. I'm not sure why this is not more popular yet. The trailer doesn't really capture how great the game is. You can play in 1st or 3rd person. I use a controller but I can see how keyboard and mouse can give someone an advantage.

The game has so much depth, there are times you will want to look something up. The official Discord's community guides are great. You tube and reddit are helpful too. After 250 hrs I found a youtuber named Tenebris Infinite. His vids brought a whole new level of fun for us making stats insanely OP.

The crafting has a lot of depth. You can create food, clothes and weapons in a thousand different combos creating very different stats. The first aspect that impressed me was the cooking. You can easily create something that nobody else has. My wife loves the building and crafting outfits. Now she's having a blast with creating synergies with weapons, clothes, spells, enchantments,

If you want an immersive game to sink a lot of time in, look no further. It's a blast with friends. Playing isn't dependent on some host to be online, so you can farm, cook, craft, etc whether your friend(s) are on or not. It plays very well solo (better than Enshrouded and I love that game too).

My biggest gripes, there needs to be a 2nd hot-bar. Currently there are two little ones for each hand. Crafting certain items requires you to build augmentations which are basically decorations. That's not a problem but each crafting station can will only read a certain number of augmentations. Benches, augmentations, floors, walls, etc all count toward building limits. You can build a bigger home with 2 of the same bench to get around that though.
