Transistor is a action-strategy game playing from an isometric top-down view from the creators of Bastion. The combat system is what I can only call a blend of Megaman Battlenetwork and Boktai or Hyper Light Drifter. It is an isometric hack-n-slash in between the turn based planning times. There is a huge customization aspect to the game, allowing for near limitless amounts of ability combinations and ways to play. The story is not directly told to the player, which I didn't like at first, but as you progress through the game it becomes apparent what is going on. It is a short game, with the average play through taking about 4 hours. I enjoyed it so much through that I went for 100% completion and sunk 27 hours into it. For a game that costs as little as $5 it was worth every penny.

A very fun platforming rogue-like game. The controls are super fluid, progression is slow enough that the game has a long playtime but it never feels like you are stuck in one spot. The upgrade tree has many options and routes to take making multiple playthroughs fresh. The controls are responsive and with skill upgrades you can start to add more levels of skill to combat. Fun game and definitely one you can pick up anytime with its infinite replay value.

A neat indie point-and-click-adventure game with its own unique spin of a combat system and game mechanics. The game revolves around the music and sounds which you use to help interact with the enviroment. Jim Guthrie, the sound designer, is praised throughout the game as he should be because the music is engaging and really keeps the game flowing.

The biggest downfall of the game is that it is short. The developpers get around this by using "real world" time and the lunar cycle to control the game enviroment to stretch what is about four hours into one month of content. This mechanic reminded me of Boktai in a way as it forces you to play at certian times unless you cheated by tapering with the clock.

Overall it was a fun game, neat visuals, amazing sound, and unique game mechanics.

A metroidvania style beat-em-up game that has everything I love about platformers. There is a combo system if you really want to get good at the game, but simply butting mashing is more than enough to make it through the game. The controls are very fluid and responsive with levels built for you to naturally fly through them. The game is packed with references and easter eggs, and the humor will keep you laughing the entire playthrough. This game is a masterpiece of the genre and a must-play for any fan of metroidvania titles.

"Why do people STILL play League of Legends when this game is around?" - 2012

Six years later and this still holds true. Valve and the DotA team continue to push this game forward to keep it at the apex of gaming.

This is an extremily immersive open world game with nearly limitless content. I put nearly 70 hours into it before completing the main questline. It is very easy to get lost in the enormous amount of sidequests and extra content in the game. DLC, although I have not played it, adds even more to the game. If you are ever finding it stale then there are enough mods to keep it fresh. There is so much content you could probably never play another game and still be happy. Highly reccommended if you still haven't played it after all these years.

Play it for the music; not because it's a great game.

Although a very simple concept the game maintains a good difficulty level throughout and has enough content for you to sink hours into it. If you are looking for an indie title that will well exceed it's price then this is a great choice.
