Terribly optimized. Like, REALLY badly, HORRENDOUSLY optimized. I want this game to be fixed because I'm having a lot of fun with it, and I want other people to as well! But right now it's a complete hit or miss on whether you'll even be able to play it. I'm pretty comfortable with a 3070 at 1080p. I'm using High textures and a lot of less important or high impact visual settings at lowest. Anything beyond that is going to make your gpu cry, which is a true shame because none of the graphics in this game really scream next gen. Primarily the opposite in fact. Baffling how it runs this poorly.

It is honestly incredible how bad this "remaster" is. Half of the cinematics show only a blank green screen. Just...don't buy this. Please. Don't reward this garbage.

I played straight through both modes of this game in one sitting, and I had an absolute blast. You can chain some truly outrageous spell combos together, all based on the genius disk + spell system. I'll be coming back to this to attempt the increased difficulty modes.

If you're confused: every spell costs mana to cast. Every disk provides mana to the spell it's linked to, once the disk's trigger condition has been met. When the disk has provided enough mana, the spell is cast.

Dino Crisis

lets me live out my childhood dream of being on Legends of the Hidden Temple

This was my first shmup and it fostered a lifelong love for the genre. It's pretty dated and janky by today's standards but it remains one of the most unique titles out there. I dream that this game is one day remade in the Cuphead style.

This is a more compact Room, with each area being an offshoot of a central hub. This felt better than a few of the earlier games which got a bit expansive. As always the graphics are great and the sound is satisfying in that very particular Room style. The plot is leaner but more impactful for it, and the ending is a treat. I highly recommend this series, and I think this installment is the best one yet.

Still a great game after all these years. I keep coming back to it again and again. The graphics hold up, the gameplay holds up, the humor holds up. If you have a newer rig you'll probably want to set PhysX to the lowest setting to prevent stuttering and bad framerates.
