SKIP FOR TL;DR

If Hotline Miami and Gunpoint had a lovechild, you would have Heat Signature, a permadeath top down shooter where guns aren't necessary and you can control time - ESC pauses the game giving you functions and you can strategise in this time - but also combines the features of both games to make a small galaxy with 4 fighting factions, Glitchers, Offworld Security, Sovereign and Foundry, but you come to make peace - or rule the galaxy. The freedom of Heat Signature is similar to a sandbox because you can pretty much play however you want.

When the developers were making Heat Signature, they thought that if you could throw people out of windows in Gunpoint, why not do the same in space? If you can hack in Gunpoint, why not do it in space? If you can be a psychopath in a top-down world in Hotline Miami, why not do it... in space? But things are different in space. When you break a window, whatever is in the vicinity of the window will be vacuumed into space, however, you can still jump out. You don't have to be a psychopath like in Hotline Miami, you can sneak past the guards and not kill anyone at all but the choice is yours. Sometimes it isn't entirely your choice but we'll get to that.

One of the good features of Heat Signature is that you can use tools to teleport, run in the 90's, swap your place with another person, teleport people into space and disable electronics with many more uses. There's a clause system where you are paid less if you kill someone, signal alarms, concuss someone, but it all depends on the clause you are given.

FYI, as a permadeath game there are moments where you want to slit your wrists.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TL;DR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a fairly experienced player of Heat Signature and a fan of Gunpoint and Hotline Miami, I can safely recommend this to anyone who enjoys difficulty and likes taking risks while also combining a strategy element and the reminiscence of a turn-based game.
