I watched a stream from five years ago, when this game was out, and decided to buy it. The devs have since changed the entire UI and removed information on quests for each mission. So now, you don't know which heroes have completed a quest, or what special things you are expected to do on these quests until after you have played through it.

Don't remove working features! If players play on small screens, the blame is on them for not playing at a proper computer! Don't punish PC players!

Good game, using variation of the mechanics used in Stacklands.

Kind of easy, and needs more content to make me want to replay it, but overall, I enjoyed it.

Early Access Review
Yes it is Early Access, but it still is not satisfying to play.

Almost all locations seems to be the same, the UI needs work, the game is very repetitive, and in 6 hours, I have yet to find the "fantasy" element: there are no fairies to talk to, no goblins to avoid, no mystery to uncover...

I will update this later, if I find reason to.

I did not expect to lose interest anywhere near this quickly. I am only going to go into details on two systems here, since I think that is enough to show the state of the game.

UI: unfinished. Not giving me the information I need. The in-game pedia is not informative enough. For example, if you build two buildings in the same tile, they will combine into a Quarter. In a later Age, if you specialize a Town into giving bonuses to Quarters, it does not work. Why? Becasue even though the pedia says a Quarter needs to have two same-age buildings, they actually need two buildings FROM THE CURRENT AGE. Then write "current age" in the pedia, and not "same age"! Even as the pedia is opaque, there would have been two more ways to find out; the mouse-over could inform you if the tile is a Quarter (it does not even if they do count as a Quarter), or the town specialization screen could show you the bonus you get (it does not).

Age system: unsatisfying. Sure, the first Age is great. This could seriously be the one I will play over and over in the future, ignoring the other ages. Why? Because when an Age ends, most of the map is reset. AI civs instantly get new settlements, all units are reset (some remain, others are lost, seemingly at random), and placed at random. Your upgrades settlements (cities) revert to towns, and you have to pay gold to get them to be cities again. You get leaders level ups, and have to re-distribute resources again... In short, it feels like a new game, and more importantly, it feels as if your actions in the previous age did not matter so much. All they amounted to was upgrade points. Maybe if I "lost" the previous age, I too would get 6 brand new ettlements randomly placed? Would that make me happy? Not likely.

There are other points I could make, but frankly, I am just mad they tricked me into paying 130 euros for this mess, on the promise of more wonders and leaders. I thought I would play this for months and get excited for the new leader combos, and such, but no. What a let down, Sid.

Fantastic game. You need to pay attention to the smallest details, and really think about the clues you are given, but it is oh so satisfying getting it right!

Long overdue review: no. Bad game. Only buy if you also buy Rising Tide. Which costs way too much.

I regret buying this game. Even more so, I regret playing it for longer than the refund time.

I regret it, because it is a micromanagement hell. There are so many items and production options and buildings, taking the focus away from he 4X nature of the game. In those five hours I played, nothing of note happened. It was just adding numbers on top of numbers, and producing plows for my farms. Just boring, with nothing to look forward too, except even more complex micromanagement. After one tiger destroyed a formation of two archers and a swordsman, I just lost interest.

I should have listened to the negative reviews, and never bought it.

After having tried it a few times, I have come to the conclusion that I don't like the game.

It is way to luck based. You have little to no control over what happens. You can rarely remove cards from your deck, and thus it gets bloated really fast. Your opponents have decks that have a theme, while you often don't. And matches against a single opponent can go on for 5-10 minutes, or much longer sometimes, depending on their gimmick and your luck.

I have played Slay the Spire for over 1200 hours, Balatro for 160 hours, and in general I love deck building card games, but this game I will probably play less than 5 hours in my lifetime. It is just frustration without agency.
