3 years in the making (they had started working on this title before FM24 was released) and the utter state of this slop served up is nothing short of abysmal, particularly given the lack of release of any title last year.
It is clear that this admittedly enormous project to overhaul FM has failed spectacularly, and this year's edition is simply a dreadful port of the already casual FM Mobile to cobble together a release in time.
Match engine is fine, it's an improvement, sure, but nearly every single aspect of what made FM great has been stripped back or removed completely, and as a result, the franchise has lost it's #1 selling point in my opinion - the immersion. Every action feels laboured and a chore, nigh on everything great about this series has been demolished, and as with so many other series, has been catered to the bottom quintile; the casuals and console players.
Cautiously optimistic I can change this review in time, but at the time of writing, this is a shameful abomination to a beloved series.

The best of the series, fight me.
I played 3, then 1, then 2 (Sotfs). It has it's flaws, undoubtedly and the difficulty curve at the beginning is pretty insane, but in terms of game length (I've had one playthrough and it's taken me around 90 hours - pretty much double what 1 & 3 took me) it's huge and I can't wait to NG+ it, so much replay value with the massive arsenal of weapons and armour available (far surpassing 1 & 3 again).
I really don't get the hate for DS2, maybe the original (not sotfs) was much worse but this had everything I wanted from Dark Souls. It challenged me, rewarded me and the scant dialogue is absolutely sublime. Shout out to Lucatiel.

My only -ve i guess would be if you're a new 'souls-like' player, you're gonna struggle with this if it's entry level, if you're a souls vet and haven't played, the controls are a bit different.

Overall - the best Souls game of the trilogy imo.

Bought for the nostalgia of Theme Hospital but after the first level or two it becomes very stale and repetitive.
Worth on sale, I guess.

The only game I've been genuinely satisfied with at Early Release.
Simply the best management/colony game you can buy. The dev is a king. Thanks for 400+ hours Tynan.

Better, faster, and much more difficult than 2016.
Inexplicably runs far far smoother than 2016 does and I haven't updated my rig in 5+ years - I have a very mediocre set-up and I haven't dropped below 60fps once.
As usual the soundtrack is pumping, Mick Gordon is better than 90% of any djent or deathcore on the scene today.
If pressing a single button to chainsaw an enemy for ammo is too complex, this game is not for you.
