Early Access Review
I am sorry but I had to send this back in the tutorial. It was the QWOP character control.

Much of the trailer material shows a physics builder for lovers of Besiege. Poly Bridge, etc. with a bit of the engineer interacting with the construction. However, I had to "nope out" when I saw an essential unskippable part of the game is QWOP style walking through the machine.

It also doesn't belong. Who honestly likes intentionally janky controls unless the point of the game is janky controls? I can put 15 minutes on QWOP to see how far I can get and I can play hours of Human Fall Flat, but even HFF has better jelly character control than this. It's a painfully out-of-place mechanic for a physics building sim. it would be like trying to put a horror survival escape room in the middle of Scrabble.

If the QWOP style movement was removed (or at least made better, like Human Fall Flat style) I'll give this another shot. The art, construction mechanics, variety in construction challenges and pieces, and general construction vibe feels great. I encourage the developer to play Besiege and practice the difference between "challenging controls" and "bad controls."

I should have learned my lesson from Anniversary Update. I should have learned my lesson from Fallout 4 VR. I owned 75% of this content and was still charged full price.

This is why I didn’t buy Starfield, and why I will not buy any new Bethesda (or even Xbox owned) properties in the future.

Couldn't get it to work.

Basic OS defense measures prevented it from installing all the background services and spyware that are REQUIRED to run this software. Don't just click "ok" and "accept" and "allow" on everything. Read a little bit of it and see all the ways this software deeply embeds itself in your system and impacts software other than just the game.

Do not install this.

Diabetic now. Thanks, cookie clicker. Please lobby politicians to lower insulin prices in the US so we can keep enjoying this game.

I played the crap out of this until Special Edition/Anniversary Edition/VR came out, so this standard edition is siting on the shelf. From launch to the time it was replaced, it was fun for me. Plus they didn't force a "buy user mods for cash" thing like they did with SE/AE. Thumbs up for original Skyrim. Thumbs down for SE/AE.

I used this game to get a non-gamer friend into PC gaming and that went very well -- except the bottle sequence and the dark locker room sequence. Other than that, the new person took to it quite well and enjoyed the story. Until True Colors launched, this was the very best of the Life is Strange line. Before the Storm isn't a bad game and Life is Strange 2 is not for me, but this one really started something new and special.

Play this and play True Colors.

I brought this with me while traveling to see family last Autumn and I think I sold two Steam Decks (to my brother and nephew) with this game. It has the play style of the Batman games but with a brighter, prettier setting and more humor. You feel like a superhero.

I am pleased Sony is bringing Playstation games to PC. I have been anti-console for a long time now: not for some uppity "PC Master" reason (though not NOT for that reason) but mostly because console exclusives hurt all gamers. If Sony brought PSVR2 hardware to PC gamers through a Steam driver, they could count on me to buy their PSVR titles too.

This game is old now, but it's still a good go-to game when you want to stick a VR headset on someone and say "THIS IS WHAT VR FEELS LIKE!"

21st century Space Invaders. Love it.

I love this game except for Jeff.

The graphics, detail, sound, world building, writing, and gunplay are amazing except for Jeff.

Progression feels sensible and ammo is acceptable but not overly plentiful so I feel challenged but never hit a hard wall, except for Jeff.

Lower end PCs can still play this game but high-end PCs will benefit in beauty and effects so your system will see beautiful designs everywhere, until you meet Jeff.

Controls are intuitive and sensible and you will always feel like you have quick access to anything you need to survive, until you meet Jeff.

This game, minus Jeff, is a masterpiece of action and adventure. Jeff totally interrupts the flow and excitement of that adventure by sticking you into an unforgiving insta-death survival horror game where you'll see more loading screens than you will in the rest of the whole game combined.

Worth playing once, then playing over and over again and using your old savegame to skip Jeff once you get to that point.

Keep a bucket and a bottle of water next to your VR play space and prepare for one of the most intense VR experiences ever.

I can't believe how well they did on this game and that Bonelab came AFTER this one. Bonelab looks like a beta for Boneworks. This is the one to buy.

Would love more content with the graphical fidelity of this game on PC, not the potato Quest graphics.
