If you haven't played The Last of Us Part II yet and want to experience the story in a way that deepens your understanding of the characters and makes their actions feel more justified and emotionally impactful, I highly recommend playing it in the newly released chronological mode. While there are a few very minor inconsistencies, they’re barely noticeable — and the result is a far more cohesive and emotionally resonant experience than the original narrative structure.

Honestly, I wish this had been the default way to experience the story from the start. It allowed me to connect with each character on a much deeper level, and in my view, it significantly amplifies the emotional weight of key moments and decisions.

SPOILER WARNING — DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED PART 2:
Seeing all of Joel’s scenes before his death creates a much smoother and more meaningful transition from Part I to Part II. It gives his character room to breathe and evolve before the shocking event — making his death feel even more devastating and absolute. If I could replay the game for the first time, I would absolutely choose to experience it this way.

In the original structure, I was filled with anger toward Abby for most of the game, and it took a long time — nearly her entire arc — before I could even begin to empathise with her. The chronological mode changes that. By presenting her story from the outset, it offers much-needed context and nuance, making her motivations and choices far more understandable. I found myself genuinely interested in playing as Abby this time, rather than rushing through her chapters.

The original presentation, in my opinion, was the game’s only real weakness. It left too many questions unanswered for too long, and while some ambiguity can be powerful, the fragmented backstory made key moments feel confusing or undeserved. Patch 1.5’s Chronological Mode fixes this brilliantly — elevating the game closer to the narrative heights of Part I.

Good game, can be a bit performance heavy at times and in largely populated areas e.g. cities but overall a fun game and the DLCs are fun too; just a little over priced.

Good game, it is a bit repetitive at times but what do you expect. It is really enjoyable once you have enough money to start buying your own cars.

This game is amazing, hardly any bugs or glitches, only downside is you need a decent system to run it on.

The game is quite enjoyable once you figure out how to play it. It takes alot of time to understand how it works which isn't the most fun but once you've put sometime into it, it becomes a good game.
