I have mixed feelings about this game.

I had a blast putting in over 800 hours before the first expansion. But the recurring issue was the game lacked players. A small numbers of servers are decently populated some of the time. Most servers are pretty dead most of the time. You can migrate servers, so just move to a more populated one, right? Well, not exactly.

When a massive update comes around, the more populated servers become over populated, resulting in queue times that can hit several hours long. Combine this with the bugs and crashes that often come with new content, and a single bug could waste those 3 hours you spent in queue.

Granted, that isn't a problem for most of the year, because most of the year the playbase is pretty modest. And that's where I take issue with the $30 expansion. Not because I don't think it has $30 worth of content -- friends who have bought it claim otherwise -- but because New World released it without fixing the core issue with their game, which is the lack of players for ~50 weeks out of the year.

So while the game is $40, and you can play it with the entirety of the small playerbase, the expansion is $30 and is played by an even smaller playbase. Instead of releasing content to bolster the small playerbase, AGS divided it into smaller pieces instead. Thus is the sad state of a really good game.

TLDR: Paying $30 for New World end game content would be worth it if the playbase wasn't ridiculously small outside of launch week.

What can I say... one of my favorite strategy games out there. The only downside is the amount of time a game takes. Regardless, it's worth it if you're going to sink your time into something anyway.

For all the time I've spent in-game, I still haven't explored a vast number of the locations in Skyrim, joined quite a few of the guilds and clans, or completely anywhere near all the available quests and side-stories that add to the richness of the Elder Scrolls storyline. Skyrim has an incredible depth to it that requires well over a hundred hours of playtime just to explore, and this number only grows as you add the DLCs, which I highly recommend you buy with the game (you won't regret it if you do and will wish you had if you don't).

Even though I've completely the main storyline, which was riveting and replayable due to the many paths a player can take, each altering the experiences of gameplay, I still have quite the journey ahead of me before I can come close to considering this game completed. If you're looking for a game that is worth investing your time and energy, this is one I'd recommend.

The only downside is a lack of multiplayer. I'd love to explore the mountains, valleys, caves, and rivers of Skyrim with a few friends. But, add a few mods to the game and you might forget that it's single player-only.
