Two weeks ago I would have recommended this game. It was my GotY hands down. I was having a blast, logged more than 150 hours in 3 weeks. When I wasn't playing I was thinking about playing. Sure, the PVP could be rough, getting killed by a random raider when you've got your back turned sucks. But despite that, I would have sided with the folks that say removing PVP would be the death of this game.

Then, somewhere over the last week or so, everything changed. Maybe it was the ultra-rise in the games' popularity thanks to loudmouth hardcore PVP streamers like the dirty peanut or whatever his name is, or maybe people just started getting bored of CoD & Fortnite and made their way over to Arc Raiders.. Either way, it has become literally impossible to explore a map or search containers for loot for more than about 3 minutes before you are mercilessly ganked by some voiceless twit who has been hunting you without your knowledge. Probably close to 75% of the last 30 or 40 raids I queued into I was killed within the first 5 minutes. I lost $500k buying weapons, augments, shields, rechargers/bandages, throwables and ammo without ever firing a shot. Just some sweat popping around the corner with a burletta and unloading a clip into my head without missing a bullet whilst I frantically try to dive behind some kind of cover.

** At this point, I cannot recommend the game, as the only gameplay that currently exists is surprise PVP encounters that see you chipping away at your stash and your bankroll **

No, you can't complete your weekly trials, no you can't complete your expedition project, no you can't complete your quests, no you can't complete your daily missions - you can only die over and over again to an onslaught of silent cowardly griefers whose only goal is to opportunistically pick off the easiest targets and acquire their belongings.

I get that it's an extraction shooter and PVP is going to be unavoidable at times. Some of the best moments I have experienced with this game were during PVP battles, but that was when I queued for a place like Stella Montis - a place that might as well have PVP in it's name, so I went in knowing exactly what to expect. Previously "safe" zones, like Dam Battlegrounds on Solo are no longer a place you can go to mostly avoid PVP and just try to complete trials or find valuable loot. Nowadays I'm thinking it might actually be more enjoyable if they DID have some sort of PVE zone or server where you could try to get those sorts of PVE weekly trials completed. I have played other extraction shooters, and this is still easily the best of it's genre, but until either the trolls find a new bridge to hide under or Embark comes up with a system that either punishes griefers or encourages cooperation against the Arc, this game is unfortunately going to go into my backlog and begin collecting dust. What a shame.

After more than 150 hours, I think I'm done with Arc Raiders. At least for now. ;(

It's fun for like 4-5 hours. There's not much in the way of content. I beat the whole game and there's nothing really left for me to do. No replayability outside of filling out the sparse skills tab. No real diversity in builds since you're just filling them all in as yiu go along. Also some of my achievements didn't pop even though I completed the associated challenges (defeated the ebon king) - what's up with that? 5/10

just like the classic NES titles they mimic, UFO 50's games sport level of difficulty that makes an old casual like me want to break down in tears. i've grown soft over the years, and i wasn't ready. for real though the games are tough (but fair), so if you aren't interested in a serious challenge, or willing to bang your head against the wall for hours on end to get anywhere in these games, then this game (collection of games?) might not be for you.

Incredibly fun. Well worth the money. ProTip: Search google for Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mouse Acceleration Fix. Also get the FOV fix. These will make ME1 MUCH more tolerable.

this game sucks less ♥♥♥♥ than I originally thought. Multiplayer trumps single player so play with a friend.

If you've never gotten to experience the original Half Life, this is your shot. Worth every penny.
