simple concept but very awesome my hand hurts after a bit after 2 hours because i hold onto the mouse buttons too hard as if im holding onto the rocks for dear life

base game is playable now (i used to play this with darkplaces engine). i've beaten this game like 4 times or something idk but it is probably the best fps singleplayer experience for me. on sale it's usually pretty cheap but idk if this new update will change that for the near future.

all i want though is a new quake game with doom eternal levels of gameplay and quake 1 atmosphere and setting. no strogg pls

even in the most obscure of games, i'm still the worst player in NA

i personally think that playing half life 1 before playing this makes this game so much better but that comes from my experience of playing hl1 multiple times, loving it a lot, and then being blown away by this game with how much more life it gives to the original. if you have played hl1 before, you have every reason to play this. people who have beaten hl1 before will be amazed by this game especially during the latter half.

some specifics would be that i personally feel like the gunplay in this game is so much more engaging than hl1 but i have a feeling that to most it'll probably just be the same. this game is also not just hl1 but better graphics. the devs have changed how some of the levels play out compared to the original but i wont really get into what exactly they changed. also workshop support is very cool!

i guess my only negative is what they did to the gluon gun. it visually looks pretty cool but the sound effects for the gluon gun do not even compare to how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sick it sounds in hl1. that was kind of a bummer cause the gluon gun is my fav gun of all time because of how awesome it sounds in hl1.

i like listening to 90s jungle music while playing this game and i recommend that you do the same. the visuals in this game remind me a lot of those dreamy 3D rendered images (like bryce3d) so it fits. a true vr gem unless you get motion sick easy.

edit: holy smokes the "super wormy" modifier is some shadow of colossus type beat. my god does it make the main boss SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HUGE it is insane. it's as if you were Thor fighting Jörmungandr except instead of Mjölnir all you have are hand jets, a hoverboard, and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ blaster :D. if you want to unlock the modifier, you have to find it at the highest peak in the map. that means you have to traverse the islands above the main island.
