I spent many hours playing the demo of this game with a small group and we all had a blast. Subterranauts definitely draws some comparison to a few other games of this style, yet feels so fresh and unique in its own right. I was hooked as soon as we loaded up our very first assignment.

The atmosphere of the overworld is really well-designed and unique, kinda giving Blade Runner 2049 - Las Vegas vibes with the color palette and atmosphere. The underground facilities (though not drastically different from each other at the time of this review) all feel enjoyable to explore and scavenge while avoiding whatever potential dangers lie within. Though, the overgrown variant can be tricky to determine collectible scrap from map assets (without a scanner) when running through quickly. Sound design is fitting and feels very eerie at times with good effects and strange noises. The current enemies are few, but mostly unique and occasionally challenging to avoid. I still avoid every single barrel I see...

The computer terminal is pretty neat in this game. Having played a fair amount of GTFO and becoming familiar with its extensive terminal commands, it was great to see a similar aspect in this game—not just as a gimmick or useless extra, but as an essential mechanic. We often leave one team member on the train terminal to guide us through the mazes and help us safely return to the elevator.

Overall, I'm really looking forward to the progression of Subterranauts and can't wait to see what gets added in the future. This is already in the current game rotation in our friend group and I see it staying there for a while!

Most balanced FPS game.

Love it. Simple little game, incredible artwork. Fun way to spend a few minutes!

It's easy to lose track of time when you play this. Endless fun on a ton of different maps.

The single player story is very well made. The online multiplayer is so much fun. I just wish R* would actually do something about the hackers in online mode...

I'm too scared to finish this game. I think that means this is a good horror game.

One of the best Sourcemods I've played in a long time. Great map design, exciting story, overall a fun experience! Definitely worth playing through a couple times.
