Terraria is, without a doubt, one of the best indie games ever made, rivalling (or maybe even outright beating) other influential indie games like cave story, hollow knight, celeste, even minecraft. There is a level of depth and complexity in terraria's progression that calling it 2D minecraft is a disservice to both minecraft and terraria, as they're both completely separate games with little in common beyond both being sandbox-survival games with zombies and slimes.

Be sure to play with the wiki pulled up at all times though ;)
