The QoL features provided make learning the game by playing a lot easier. Until you master your yaku, sometimes the game can pleasantly surprise you by informing you that 'hey, you're in tenpai' when you had no clue. The ability to toggle western letters and numbers onto the tiles and seat indicators are also very helpful for new players.

If you like BGS RPGs, you'll enjoy this game. It's quintessentially 'Bethesda' and has a lot to enjoy.

Wow, just wow. This game takes me right back to the first time I played a JRPG. The music on on-point, no questions about it. It is atmospheric and well composed. The battle system has enough depth to be interesting but not so much as to be obtuse. There are instances where mechanics aren't well explained, such as equipping a sub-command (made it through 2 crystals before I figured it out), but other than that everything is pretty self explanatory. If I had to make a complaint, it would be that the fixed camera makes exploration very challenging and the platforming feels a little bit floaty.

Great game if you can get it cheap, since my only complaint would be that it's kinda short. I was able to full-clear my first play-through in about 7 hours. Thankfully, a randomizer exists for this game to give it more replay value.

This game is great fun for fans of the classic JRPG. Great characters, an epic story, it has it all.

WARNING: If you don't like games that have linear storytelling, you may not enjoy this title. The story pretty clearly tells you where you need to go next to make progress. You have some autonomy to wander and explore the world, but the story will pull you back on track in fairly short order.
