Only get if on deep discount. Played to end of campaign, max level for 1 character. This game is frustrating, there is a solid foundation for what could have been an excellent arpg that never materialized. It starts out very underwhelming, especially in character build choices, but by the time you hit endgame, there's something decent there. However, I just can't recommend it over other arpgs unless you've played them all to death and are desperate for something different.

Campaign is very linear and barebones, minimum viable product.
Endgame is a janky simulacrum of Diablo 3's rifts and paragon leveling.
Itemization is very weak, almost entirely just gradual stat increases from beginning to end. No real choices to be made. Enchanting is a bit more interesting, but I couldn't be bothered to farm the materials to really make the best use of it.

I started with the ranged class (tracker) and had a pretty poor time. The attacks didn't feel right and lacked impact. I then made a knight and immediately started having fun. Melee combat in this game feels snappy and impactful and the abilities are quite varied. The itemization is pretty standard (not in a bad way) so nothing surprising to be found there. The skill grid is really interesting and, while the starting modifiers don't alter the skills much, I can see that by endgame, it will be possible to have a big impact on the skills you like and noticeably alter how they behave.

I think there's a lot of game here for the price, and many layers of meta-progression that should make it easy to try and level all the classes.

Still one of the best ARPGs, even 25 years later. This version is the same game as the original, with graphical and quality of life improvements. Well worth playing through.

Lots of content for early access. Highly polished overall with interesting combat dynamics. Takes a little time to learn how the game wants you to play, but well worth it. I really like the economic side, lots of impactful equipment that can drastically change how squads work.

The latest update did a lot to solve the speed issues. The game itself is very good, I find it much more engaging than EU4.

Excellent blend of Total War battles with Mount & Blade/Battlebrothers campaign mechanics set during the Seven Years War in Europe. It's easy to get invested in your regiments and officers as they level up and gain veterancy during your campaigns. Both unit skill and equipment feel impactful. Freshly-recruited units can be brought up to acceptable levels of performance with good equipment, and veterans with good equipment truly feel elite. Morale and morale shocks are just as, if not more important than directly doing damage. Truly happy with this game.

Very good and polished. Game systems are well-designed and there's a lot of meta-progression. Lots of interesting and varied weapons.

Best space game on the market.
