Dev Diary #47, part one of the squad leader update preview, takes a look at the additional non-squad leader-related updates, additions, and changes the squad leader update would bring. First up are AI improvements, which continue towards the goal of making sure the enemies are more aggressive in general. Beware pirate boarding commandos, who are especially aggressive and reckless now.
The squad leader update will also bring a new alien wildlife operation, a UI overhaul for nested tooltips, new 3D weapon models, including the long-awaited laser rifle, and a new item, the Signal Jammer, which you can get from the black market for tactical use. Make sure to check out the entire dev diary here to get the full scoop from the Overhype Studio team.
Dev Diary #48 is a direct continuation of the previous dev diary, this time discussing in depth the long-awaited new cast of squad leaders. These new squad leaders, unlike previous squad leaders, cannot be recruited from the black market but instead act as "Honor Guards" from the various planets in the Wayback and therefore are recruited by reaching a certain trust threshold with the faction they are bound to. Let's take a quick look at these new squad leaders from left to right!
