I've played thru the main story and the major side quests on easy/game-journalist difficulty. ~30 hrs, but I am slow so you might be quicker.

-This game is a good story, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was compelling throughout. I became invested in the characters and their struggles, particularly during the major side quests.
-Combat is generally OK in my experience, but might be sub-par if playing on higher difficulties since this would require more use of stealth/hacking (vs. just blasting everyone).
-performance was reasonable for me. My CPU barely meets the quoted min-spec and was definitely a limiting factor, especially in more dense downtown areas. Decreasing crowd density helped, but this is a significant compromise since it impacts the atmosphere of the city (which I feel is important to the game).
-there are definitely bugs. Most frequently glitches in animations which you have probably seen posted online. A few times (maybe 10?) I had to save/re-load to get a dialog/event/etc. to trigger. I did not encounter any bugs that were fatal to my enjoyment of the game or that irreversibly stopped my play through. In the penultimate sequence my gun did not appear visually but i was still able to shoot and complete the scene.
-I recommend this game. I think you could just as well wait for a sale and/or for further patches. There is not much reason to play it IMMEDIATELY.

-I'll pour one out for the homies stuck on XBO/PS4.

my spec:
cpu: i7 3770K @ 4.0GHz
ram: 16GB DDR3
gpu: GTX 1660 Super
disk: HP EX920 NVMe SSD

Great game, have played thru on Android and iOS, as well as OS X via non-steam source. Highly recommend. The desktop version is slightly different which is refreshing.

Early Access Review
Compared to the previous 2 Dirt games, this one is far more of a sim. The learning curve is like a brick wall.

That said, I appreciate the challege.

Disclaimer: I play with an Xbox 360 controller, not a wheel.

other pros:
-looks nice, cars are very accurate reproductions
-maps are realistic.
-cars are each unique
-runs well on my modest system (i7 3770K, 16GB ram, R9 270X)
-supports eyefinity out of the box
-no Gymkana or goofy stuff like that
-no Ken Block's voice
-no GFWL
-steamworks
-No Gymkana
-Did i mention no Gymkana? What about the lack of Ken Block?

cons:
-brick wall learning curve. Seriously. There is little to no hand holding.
-gets a bit repetitve without a story like Dirt2/3 had
-no other cars on the course at the same time as you (outside of RX). Dirt 2/3 had this, I kinda liked it.
-sometimes the pace notes are a bit wonky, especially regarding "1"s
-sometimes its a bit too unrelenting.

Really my only gripe is the difficulty. I'm sure that many race-sim enthusiasts will disagree, but for me as a 'casual' Dirt fan I find the difficulty a bit frustrating at times. The events are long, easilly taking 45+ minutes. After spending the time to complete the event only to be 5 points short of the next stage is kinda frustrating and makes it hard to keep playing.

I was easilly able to ace Dirt2/3 on a fairly high difficulty, but Dirt Rally is kicking my ass.

Codemasters came through bigtime. With the recent update, they removed GFWL which fixes basically every gripe I had with Dirt 3. They also got Feral Interactive to do a Mac port which is amazing, and runs decently on my 2012 MBP.

This game is one of my all time favorites. I've played through it many times, and I still find it fun. Gymkana is a chore, and I hate that I have to play it to get thru the game, but I deal. I own Dirt 1, 2 and 3, and I like Dirt 3 the best by far, even with Gymkana.

The driving mechanics might not be simulator level, but I find them deep enough to be rewarding. Compared to dirt 2 the driving dynamics are far more "simulator like".

It looks pretty with the settings maxed out, but doesn't require insane hardware to do so (I have an R9 270X, and i7 3770K). It supports Eyefinity perfectly. Occasionally the game will crash on me, but I find that forcing DX9 mode solves this.

Early Access Review
I am dissapointed by the lack of progress the developers have made. This is a risk you take with Early Access, so I'm not gonna be too mad about it, but I will leave a negative review.

idk what it is about this game, but for some reason it just works. I've played it through probably 10-15 times, and i still can just sit and play for hours. And get this, I don't even have the DLC (thanks microsoft you bag of ♥♥♥♥♥). Once I get the DLC it will probably be even awesomer. Im considering buying an Xbox 360 just so i can play the Dirt 3 DLC

best hat simulator ever devised. I truely had no idea how much i valued hats until I played this game. 300 hours later, and i've only begun my headware adventure.
