Fantastic game, you won't regret playing

Excellent and addicting game, the learning curve and RNG can be steep but the gameplay is worth it.

One of the greatest games ever made. Barrier of entry can be a bit steep if it is your first Soulslike but the return on investment in your time is high.

From a story and atmosphere perspective this game is a clear 10/10. The art design is fantastic, the story is well crafted and executed, the characters are memorable and engaging.

From a gameplay perspective its a much more mixed bag. The combat wants to be a soulslike but the polish is just not there to make this fun. Enemy attacks have hitboxes that don't line up with the visuals, the parry window is miniscule, and if the dodge roll has iframes they are so short as to be nonexistent. Combined with Kena feeling a little loose to control leads to the combat feeling very clunky on anything above the lowest difficulties.

Despite the flaws the good parts of this game more than make up for the weaknesses. I would highly recommend this game to anyone based on the story alone, just keep in mind that you might have to drop the difficulty level unless you really enjoy abusive combat dynamics.

Small Note: On the combat trials you don't need to get all 3 challenges in the same run. These were killing me until I figured that out.

Very fun, especially with friends

Very fun 2D Zelda inspired game. The fact that one person made the entire game is beyond impressive.

Kickstarted this game and now finally playing it it scratches all of those GBA era Fire Emblem itches I've had. Definitely fun and worth a pickup if you like tactical rpgs.

Too annoyed to write a more nuanced review. The platforming and combat could be fun but the awful checkpoint system will force you to replay long segments just because a single hard point is giving you trouble. The focus on rapid parkour is killed by the game's frustrating tendency to force you into slow methodical platforming because failure is met by a return to a (frequently too distant) checkpoint.

I bought this game years back for a couple of dollars and I've sunk hundreds of hours into it. Everytime I come back to it I fall in love all over again.
