Buggy mess.
Game crashes (for everyone)
Physics don't work, gimmicks don't work, platforming doesn't work.
Crappy port.
No bounce ability for 3d sonic. Dash/boost will get you killed anywhere in 3d space.
Luckily you can't easily buy this anymore.

Let's see if the shadow generations version fixed anything.

I think this is the first game I've gone out of my way to write a review for that wasn't a joke / steam task, I was that impressed with it.

I kinda slept on this game for a while because I thought I didn't like the theme or the "floating rails" "open world gimmick" and thought that it wouldn't work.
But it was eventually on sale for dirt cheap so I got it to try it out anyway, and well.. I was really surprised. It does work, and works well.
Note: play the game on hard, it actually changes the platforming! And gives you a secret final boss. This isn't explicitly stated anywhere. Get stuck somewhere? change it to easy to clear it and change back.

Pros
- It works. I can honestly say through my playthrough in this game, I didn't fall through the floor once. I didn't glitch out of physics or stage gimmicks. Every single death and fail came from my own inputs. Which is... rare for a Sonic game.
- Platforming. Some of the best platforming I've ever seen in a Sonic game. On the way to getting a chaos emerald on the 2nd island, it suddenly hit me how good the game felt.
- Combat. Besides a couple of frustrating moments before I realised how parrying worked and what could be parried, this game has the best combat in any sonic game so far.
- Fishing. THERE'S A FISHING MINIGAME~.
- Character's dialogue and writing/story. The voice acting, character's interactions, story, deep cut comments and references that'll surprise the longest of Sonic fans.
- SS2. no context.

-Music. Sega COOKED with this game's OST. they took every guy they had from all of their rhythm game experience and had them throw everything they had into this game.
Beautiful score for all the open world islands and scenery. Insanely chill lofi beats to fish and relax to. hyped up energetic techno for cyberspace levels. and then hype rock music for all the boss fights.
Not only that, open world collectables scattered everywhere to unlock more songs for jukebox. you can just press dpad buttons to navigate a music player with songs from all the sonic games. everything from sonic 1 to sonic whatever. sonic heroes, shadow the hedgehog, unleashed, colors, CD (US and JP songs) etc.

should not be a dlc to begin with, this should be a free basic feature in the game.

I don't care if it's free.
Editing your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cat and character should not be something you'd usually have to pay for.
Capcom, find the guy who suggested this, and break his kneecaps.
Then, find anyone who agreed, and have sex with their wife and/or loved ones in front of them.

Fun gameplay but lol no.
devs adding fortnite rapper concerts instead of developing the game and fixing bugs or adding new content.

Next they'll be selling cosmetic lootboxes with big flashy effects.

I'm below minimum requirements with a 1070 and an i5-4690k.
I manage to play the game at a solid 30fps with all graphics on lowest at 1080p.

It looks ugly, but it works! really fun too. gameplay is all that matters and the gameplay here is the best monster hunter has ever been.


Edit: I have since upgraded my pc to a 9070XT with a i5-14600k, game runs flawlessly locked to 100fps on ultra with the high res texture pack without a single framedrop.
Idk what people are crying about, game runs fine.
