Fantastic tactical FPS that keeps getting better. Been with GZW since Day 1 when it was full of jank, but you could see the potential and the fun. Now I'm 100+ hours in having played all the updates through Winds of War so far and their vision for the final version is becoming clear. Expect the game to still play like an alpha as of July 2025, and know there are more server wipes ahead, but also know that this game has one of the coolest, most supportive communities of any game and the devs actually listen to them. Kudos to the devs, marketers, and players for continuing to turn GZW into something uniquely different in the tactical FPS space.

Great take on the Ace Combat formula. Clearly made with love. I've kept coming back to it throughout the years as it's got some of the best gameplay for a arcade flight game in the modern era. The story is kind of like fan fiction with loads of dialog that's difficult to follow, but if you sift through the attempted character development, you can grok the basics of each mission briefing. Regardless, for a 3-4 person dev team, you can tell they really put their heart into it and you gotta respect that.

TLDR: The flying, combat and gameplay is outstanding. Tech progression is good enough. The graphics are excellent. The music is banging -- especially the DLC tracks. 10/10 as far as arcade flight combat games go.

Really fun FPS! If you enjoy games like Doom and Quake, you'll like this.

The PvE expedition mode is a fun spin on the extraction genre. The co-op missions are well designed and a lot of fun, as well. In general, the level design is well done, as is the enemy design. In particular, most of the bosses are varied and have unique patterns to figure out -- they're a lot of fun in co-op.

PvP arena modes are your typical fare, but the 8 unique heroes with the different abilities, plus the 5 tiers of different weapons across 5 or so weapon classes gives you a lot of variety and let's you customize to play your way. There's loads of attachments, skins and trinkets for your weapons, as well as ranks for each hero's abilities, which gives you a continual sense of progression after every PvE or PvP match.

Beyond the gameplay, I think the original universe they've created is visually beautiful and the near-future sci-fi premise feels fresh and interesting. In a sea full of same-y shooters these days, Shatterline really stands out as a new, unique AAA IP worth checking out!
