I really like the always online aspect of the game. People are hating but it makes the game world feel so alive. I've had zero issues with logging in this weekend; must have just been launch day hiccups for the first few hours or something.

The physics are very arcade-y to the point where it reminds me of the Tony Hawk games. So much so that I keep trying to press A to jump and Y to grind! But this is a good thing because it makes the game a lot less frustrating to play than past Skate titles.

My only complaint is that there's not much to do right now but there's still plenty of fun to be had from simply skating different spots with complete strangers, plopping down rails and watching them grind them. It's a fun game to just hang out in. Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out how to enable voice chat yet.

But honestly just get the game. It's free and not terrible so you really can't go wrong, even if you only get an hour or two of fun out of it.

I don't understand how a game with 30K players can feel so dead. I only paid $1, but I never felt more ripped off. You rarely run into other drivers during a normal session; there are supposedly 30,000 people playing this game, yet I've never seen more than 3-4 other players in a server at a time. Even if you join a race, no actual humans are involved. You're racing against bots, which again makes no sense for a game that supposedly has THIRTY THOUSAND PLAYERS,

To make matters worse, the cars drive like they have major mechanical issues. I picked an Audi TT as my first car, which apparently can hit 130+ MPH bone stock, yet the car struggles to maintain even 50 MPH in top gear, which is something that literally every real-world car can do. In this game you have to peg the redline to keep the cars moving at a reasonable speed, yet you can take a corner at 60 MPH like it's nothing. The driving mechanics are so bizarre and unrealistic that it makes me wonder if even one single person who developed this game actually owns a car. What makes things even more bizarre is the fact that several major auto manufacturers approved the usage of their brands in-game. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!

And then there's the fact that it's obvious that the devs have never actually visited the US before. Which is really confusing because they somehow knew about minor cities in my home state of AZ, while completely failing to acknowledge that Phoenix exists. How can you know to add a tiny town that no one visits to your game, yet completely fail to recognize the fact that the 5th largest city in the US actually exists!?

0/10 don't waste your hard drive space on this. I hope that one day someone will come along and release a proper street racing MMO. This surely ain't it.

I never thought I'd be into spreadsheet simulators but the fact that you can actually drive the cars you build makes this game so freaking addictive. Plus the educational value is huge if you're as geeky as I am. I learned so much about how engines and gear ratios and brakes and suspension worked just by playing this game. So after putting a few dozen hours into it, I finally decided to go ahead and purchase my own copy.

The only cons are that the campaign is boring and interiors are extremely difficult to build, especially with the controls you're given. This game REALLY needs VR support. Just imagine how cool it would be to actually be able to assemble the cars with your hands. But I seriously doubt that will ever happen, and it makes me sad. Still worth a purchase for the engine-building aspect alone, though. Plus you can always do what a lot of people do and simply don't design interiors. Just stick to the outside cam in Beam.ng. Problem solved lol :D

The multiplayer minigames were insanely addictive back in its heyday. Damn that the few people still playing this game today only play singleplayer. Back in 2011 I used to be #10 on the leaderboards; literally the only time I've even broken top 10,000 in a game, let alone top 100 or even top 1,000. I miss it so much.

Here's hoping the remaster of the original is good.

Rust/Ark clone. Extremely fun for the first few days but you quickly grow tired of it after you realize that you're basically playing a mobile game with good graphics. Once you've built up your base and raided a few dungeons, you've seen it all. Takes literally 3 days to see everything the game has to offer, and this is coming from someone with fulltime employment. That said, I appreciate the lack of grind. But once you've played this type of game before, you've played them all. I'm sure it's better with friends.

Fun but overrated. It has its "Battlefield moments" but gets repetitive quickly.

Here's the basic formula:
1. Shoot bugs
2. Blow up an objective
3. Die
4. Respawn and try to land on your teammates for maximum trollage
5. Blow up more objectives and shoot more bugs
6. Mash WASD in a particular order like you're playing DDR without a dancepad
7. Extract and repeat.

I still enjoy the game, but I'm going to get bored by next week if the devs don't introduce more variety and new game modes soon. I'm sure it's more fun with friends, but I can't confirm since I'm an introverted, asocial shut-in who hides offline and neglects friendships thanks to a killer combo of social anxiety and unresolved childhood trauma (thanks grandma and dad).

Also there's no DLSS support.

EDIT: I was right. The game got old real quick. And it's not just me; player count plummeted from ~450K to ~12K as of this review. This is what happens when you make your game too simple and repetitive, and give the middle finger to everyone who wanted PvE. I should not have wasted my money.

Among Us with character classes. The players (i.e. children) are as dumb as always. I played two matches and saw all that I needed to see. "WhErE?" "wHeRe?" Fool me once.

Don't waste your time one this one just because it suddenly exploded in popularity. There is nothing to see here.

EDIT: Okay, fine, after playing it some more I can say that this mod does in fact look better than I originally stated (especially in later test chambers); it does some neat lighting effects that I've never seen in a game before until now (this is my first RT GPU, upgraded from a 1070). Still, if you're expecting a next gen game, you will be disappointed. Oh well, at least there's still RTX Racer to look forward to, which actually does look like a true next gen game from what I've seen so far. I have to keep reminding myself that this mod is meant to showcase what RTX Remix can do for old games. Don't go into this expecting Portal with modern graphics or you will be disappointed. That said,

Original review below:

I'm disappointed by this mod. I guess the lighting/shadows and reflections look SLIGHTLY better but other than that, it looks like the same Portal I remember, even with all the RT settings cranked beyond Ultra (FYI, there's a separate menu to change the RT settings; Press Alt+X). Sucks because the initial teaser video looked beautiful, but people complained so much about it to the point where the RT effects were toned-down so much, that the mod hardly looks better than the original. Runs great on a 4090 + 7700X + 32GB DDR5 6000, though I'm not surprised given the fact that this PC is high-end and barely 2 months old. I'm getting a steady 120 FPS with occasional dips to 110-115 FPS at 4K (max settings). I don't have VSync on but this mod seems to be limited to your display's refresh rate (mine is 120Hz in case you didn't infer that on your own).

If you're new to Portal and have a top-of-the-line rig, then you should give this mod a shot. Otherwise just stick to the OG Portal unless you just want to test your GPU or an overclock (see last paragraph of review). But if you fall under the first category, then the rest of the review is meant for you (for everyone else, skip to the end):

6/10. (0 = terrible, 5 = average, 10 = life-changing) It's Portal with slightly better graphics. If nothing else, this game is good for testing the stability of your GPU overclock. It brings out memory artifacts better than any other benchmark or stress test I've tried (PUBG is a close second).

Needs more/better mods. I wish the game was longer with more side quests and had better graphics (it needs more Ray Traced effects).

Highly recommended and worth every penny.

Stray is a highly enjoyable game but PLEASE let us adjust the FoV (up to 120 would be nice). In it's current state it is WAY too zoomed in. I recommended moving your seat back or using a small screen to enjoy this. I'd like to be able to enjoy this game on my 65" 4K OLED without getting sick, so please fix this as soon as you're able to. I will change my review to positive you do.
