It does not take much for me to find enjoyment from a gaming experience. Give me tools to kill an enemy, allow me to feel good about myself by completing a puzzle, or just tell me a captivating story and I will be a happy man. Vapour’s gameplay annoyed me to my breaking point. Not only was I unable to find enjoyment within the experience, but I had to force myself to keep playing for the purpose of writing this review. I’m not implying that the game is unplayable, because there gamers that enjoy intense challenges. If the challenging nature of the game was due to combat difficulty or lack of skill, I would have been content. Instead, I got up from my computer chair feeling worthless and uneducated. Forcing players to progress the story with little assistance is one thing, but I felt like I was searching for needles in a field of haystacks.
