Modern humans, aided by algorithms, have defined "optimization" as the removal of all friction. We wear gray because color requires a decision. We listen to algorithmic playlists because searching requires effort. Because deep culture requires friction, it is being "optimized" out of the average life. Culture is not becoming redundant; challenge is becoming redundant.

Their entire raison d’être is to become unthinking functionaries of the regime. I’m not sure how a democracy operates without citizens who are capable of generating critical insights into their historical circumstances and social position. The only solution would be for individual actualization to happen exclusively through the framework of corporate structures. Man becomes the mindless accessory of an automized economic entity. We would deny to our children and to ourselves the most essential points of contact with our own humanity.
