Late in 1940, Lehi representative Naftali Lubenchik went to Beirut to meet Hentig. To Hentig's surprise, Lehi proposed the creation of an anti-British alliance with Nazi Germany, in exchange for a fascist Jewish state. Lubenchik Jewish state would be ruled in a very similar manner as Germany's dictatorship. Hentig requested that the offer be put in writing, after which he delivered the proposal to the Foreign Office in Berlin.
1 Jun @ 12:22am
Although Hentig was overly optimistic about the removal of all obstacles, especially the British opposition to unlimited Jewish immigration into Palestine, the actions he initiated enabled Auerbach to negotiate with Eichmann for (at first) a thousand Jewish boys and girls to be trained in preparation for emigration to Palestine. Although Eichmann had wanted the training and emigration to be handled by the Gestapo, Auerbach found confederates

In Berlin, he had often seen and heard Chaim Weizmann and had been deeply impressed by him. He was also attracted to the daring of the Zionist experiment. Hentig advised Ernst Marcus, who was employed by the Paltreu Company, a subsidiary of the Haavara Company, to prepare material proving that the contribution of the German Jews to the upbuilding of Palestine was small as compared with the share of Polish Jews and the financial contribution of American Jews.

Marcus prepared such a memorandum, which served as the basis for a brief, arguing that there were certain advantages to Germany in the establishment of a Jewish State.

Several months passed .... A short time before the Institution for Immigration B's emissary, Auerbach, arrived in Vienna, Hentig phoned Marcus to tell him that Hitler at last had made a favorable decision and that all obstacles in the way of emigration to Palestine were now removed

What qualifies Pope Francis to pronounce on what makes a good political leader? He presides over the Roman Catholic Church, one of the most reactionary institutions on the planet, for centuries the foremost enemy of science, reason and social progress.

Prior to his elevation to the papacy in 2013, he had a long career in Argentina, where the Catholic hierarchy embraced the bloodstained military junta that slaughtered tens of thousands between 1976 and 1983. During that period, Jorge Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, was a leading clerical official in Buenos Aires.

The shameless and ignorant American media has transformed yesterday’s collaborator with a regime of torture and mass murder into today’s “People’s Pope”

The state doesn’t want you to know the tsar is secretly controlled by the Rasputin Class! Such a noble bourgeois leader must be corrupted by evil forces instead of following his political interests!

great video, my mom and sister are those who expect you to just do what they need... without them teaching you or running you through the process.

instead, they work on things then get mad that you are burned out and sleeping all day to survive.

If h0m0 sapiens grant rights and value life based strictly on the ability to participate in a social contract, articulate abstract language, and exercise moral agency, then we would logically have to deny human rights to infants, people with profound cognitive disabilities, people with severe dementia, or those in comas.

Philosophers like Peter Singer argue that drawing the line entirely around human DNA while excluding an ape that might have a higher cognitive capacity than a profoundly disabled human infant is an arbitrary prejudice known as speciesism.

Yes, but one should also not fall into the trap of thinking that snorting ketamine and being pathetic in public are the opposite of self-affirmation. I often feel tired by these imposed and presumed dualisms that tend to hide some capitalist ascetic urge to aspire towards the "respectable man". Not saying that's what you're thinking (I can't know that), but it's not enough to just point at someone's actions. In fact, the extreme and mastery of self-affirmation lies in affirming non-affirmation more than anything, if you ask me. I am not the opposite of anything, I am the All which is always opposing itself.

On February 17, 2025, Griner cancelled a speaking engagement for a cannabis leadership summit at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, after a piece of duct tape with the words "Gay Baby Jail" written on it was found near her hotel room, which she perceived to be a threat. According to detectives at the Prince George's County Police Department, the words "Gay Baby Jail" was an apparent video game reference, and may have been connected to a large anime and video game convention that had recently taken place at the event center.

Yep, everything humans do is natural, as we are part of nature and can't escape it. Everything humans can do is within our natural capabilities (intellect, creativity) given and governed by nature. The same way it's natural for a spider to spin a Web, or beavers to build a dam, it is natural for humans to create SLOP

Of course you regain weight when you stop taking the drug that was helping you lose interest in food. Your cholesterol would go back up if you quit taking your statin too. Your BP will rise when you quit taking your ACE inhibitor. The whole point of medicine is it works when you take it, and not when you don’t.

There was supposedly a strange idolatry component to it. The chief architect was a Japanese guy who'd fallen in love with elements of Islamic architecture when working on an airport out in Saudi Arabia (ironically in the employ of Osama Bin Laden's father) so he integrated elements of design from Mecca into what is essentially the world's most prominent symbol of capitalism which went down about as well you'd expect in Wahhabist circles.

Do you feed your family prompts?

Peterson is the famous case - a clinical psychologist who delivers his largest audience the exact pop-Freudian, gender-essentialist material his discipline spent fifty years complicating. Smaller versions exist in every country. The trick works because the credential and the betrayal of the credential reinforce each other: viewers get the authority ("a professor says so") and the populism ("and he's not afraid to tell it like it is") in one package. The performance has to be anti-intellectual to land, but it has to be done by someone who can credibly claim intellectual standing, or it's just another guy with opinions on the internet.

Confucius was an idealist who's philosophy was toothless Shi and Qing-Dafu propaganda designed to keep the peasantry under spell.
15 May @ 3:12am
The strength of structural arguments about instrumentalization isn't that they require the underlying grievance to be fabricated - it's that they redirect attention to three other questions: Whose voices got authorized to speak for the group? What response was deemed proportionate? What happened to members of the "defended" group who disagreed? Russia could point to real Russian-speakers in Donbas with real concerns about Ukrainian language laws and real anger after Maidan; that didn't make annexation or invasion a proportionate response, and it didn't make the silencing or displacement of dissenting Donbas residents acceptable. By that test, the fact that significant Jewish constituencies did want a strong German stance against antisemitism does not validate everything done in their name; the same three questions apply, and Germany answers them poorly.
15 May @ 3:12am
The structure is even more visible when you notice who else now performs philo-semitism in Europe. Parts of the populist right (AfD in Germany, FPÖ in Austria, elements of Fidesz) have adopted pro-Israel positions largely as instruments against Muslim immigration. This severs the form of philo-semitism almost entirely from any continuous tradition of concern with Jewish wellbeing - the same parties carry the old antisemitic substrate domestically while wielding the philo-semitic posture externally. If a concept like "post-philo-semitism" applies anywhere unambiguously, it's there: the form fully detached from the substance, available as pure political technology
15 May @ 3:12am
The obligation has become so abstracted into Germany's own self-conception - Erinnerungskultur as a national identity project, Staatsräson as a sovereignty claim - that it now operates independently of, and at times directly against, the actual descendants and contemporaries of the people the obligation was supposedly owed to. The obligation, having been institutionalized, no longer needs Jewish input to operate; it has become a German concern about German virtue, performed in proximity to Jewish symbols but not particularly answerable to Jewish people.

“More and more people are being drawn to Reform,” Bloom said, adding that Reform “has definitely had its issues with anti-Jewish racism” – but had “dealt with them swiftly” at a time when parties were being judged by speed of action.

Meanwhile, he said Reform had brought over “genuine allies” of the Jewish community from the Conservatives – including Suella Braverman, Robert Jenrick and Nadhim Zahawi – at a time when many felt “betrayed and abandoned” by Labour over the pace of action against anti-Jewish racism and Islamist extremism.

Raphi Bloom, of the Jewish Representative Council, said Labour had long been seen as a “natural home” for Jewish values of social responsibility.

And no, it’s not perfect here at all. It’s an old city, there are curbs and stairs too. But in Moscow, there are places where I can’t even travel 200 meters by myself, while here I manage completely independently and live alone.

I’m tired of hearing the exact same response in every government institution in Russia, like they copied it from a script: “What did you expect? We live in Russia.”

By the way, I was in Sri Lanka once and went into a café that had a single step at the entrance. They helped me get inside. The owner started apologizing for the step, which shocked me. The next morning when I came back, there was a homemade ramp there. He had built it himself overnight.

My pension doesn’t even cover medical expenses. I spent around 8 million rubles on recovery treatment. I sold EVERYTHING just to survive. If I had simply relied on government help, I’d still be lying in bed for the rest of my life.

Now I live in Thailand. It’s cheaper here, and I go outside every single day on my own, without any help, because the environment actually allows it. Yes, this is in Asia, not Europe, where accessibility is supposed to be even better. And there are lots of wheelchair users out on the streets here too, because they can actually go outside and move around ON THEIR OWN.
14 May @ 12:46pm
Seven years in a wheelchair, disability group 1. As someone from Moscow, I can say the capital is absolutely not accessible for wheelchair users. And the regions... well, I’d rather not even start. All this talk about an accessible environment is COMPLETE nonsense. How many wheelchair users do you see out on the streets in your city every day? Here’s a secret: there are a lot of them. They’re just stuck at home with no way to get outside.

Over the past two years, I’ve been outside maybe 30 times. Without the help of two strong men, it’s impossible to get out. They refuse to exchange an accessible apartment for mine. They tell me, “Sell it, buy something in the regions, and live there.” That’s what they say directly at the administration offices.

In Excersises and Wargames from the 2002-2014 time frame (when "Bioterrorism" was a buzz word and after the Anthrax attacks in Congress), every country on Earth''s pandemic response plan was "hunker down and wait for the US to develop a cure"

During the Obama administration when Ebola Outbreaks were happening across West Africa, and MERS was looking threatening, the rest of the worlds response plan was "hunker down and wait for the US to show up" (And we did show up with the world's first Ebola Vaccine)

When COVID-19 hit, almost every country's pandemic response plan was still pretty much, "hunker down and wait for Daddy."
