I must confess something as well. I didn't actually read all of your post 2 years ago :(
I did read it now though... Good job Dom! Hopefully you are doing well! Also, did you ever go to visit the scene of the crime?

I wrote all this ♥♥♥♥ two years ago, forgot about it, checked it again, realized I still hold all this true and that I simply don't care. Also I never considered the possibility of AI making hyper realistic videos of anything you can imagine. Now, anybody that sees a photo or video that directly oppose their viewpoints can simply brush it off as 'AI' regardless if it is true or not. Its like 1984 for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Now, the consequences to foreign policy and the inevitable extension to war don't appear at first but they are there. The best takeaway that can be made is that the first nation to fully embrace AI on levels in their military organization will have a striking advantage over any that does not. Furthermore, smaller nations that would have been typically crushed stand to wage a more devastating ware (either symmetrical or asymmetrical) against there larger but perhaps not as developed neighbor.

Moving over to AI, as seen with recent developments in artificial general intelligence (AGI) as seen notably with ChatGPT, AI is seemingly determined to find itself as the solution to many of our modern problems. Now, brushing over the seemingly inevitable societal chaos when AI takes over a majority of the middle classes' jobs (management of all forms), AI stands to massively change the way we do warfare. Not only does it promise to make pre-existing weapons deadlier by enhancing the way they compute data, but it also can create new capabilities only ever cooked up by sci-fi writers. Whether it be the loyal wingman program the USAF is currently doing or 'hunter-seeker' kamikaze drones that can discern friend from foe and make the decision to terminate without approval from a human operator, AI will make its impact (literally at that too).

...Now, more than ever, intercepting ballistic missiles even with kinetic weaponry (compared to the nuclear tipped interceptors of the 80's) has never been easier or as effective. I won't make any guesses but I'd wager a guess that some nation (probably the US) could likely soon field an arsenal of ABMs to severely hamper or even outright defeat a total saturation attack of ICBMs. I don't think I need to weigh in on the consequences of this capability may levy for the nation that possesses such an ability.
