Reminds me of Command and Conquer: Tiberium Sun and C&C 3.

So far I've only dived into the GDF campaign, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

If youre looking for a RTS fix, this one can be scratch your itch.

This is not a Fallout game...

What this is a Shooter with RPG mechanics, rather than a RPG with shooter mechanics; lemme give you the down low on why:

Combat:

Changed for the better; gun fights are great - taking cover behind a dirtmound while an angry minigun tooting supermutant screams profanities at you has never been more fun. Lasers and bullets 'whizz' and 'crack' as they fly past you kicking up dust and sparks, and the 'soft cover' system works great.

Enemy AI is accepable, flanking you and taking cover more often than not. Companion AI however, is a total mess; gone is the in depth systems from Fallout 1, 2 and NV - the companion wheel is gone. More often than not they block you when tryin to run from an angry shotgun weilding raider, and its so hard to keep track of your companion, that i'm having a hard time finding them in combat to plan my attack - which is ok i guess, since it adds to the chaos (which is good) of combat, but in reality it's super frustrating. I cant find them and get to them, to revive them.

Dogmeat more often than not, just walks into Deathclaws and tanks them, or simply refuses to tank enemies that i want him to, instead opting to stay by my side, and lets me slug it out ith 6 supermutants in a prolonged gun fight. And commanding him during combat is impossible.

We're on the bloody PC Betheda, we have enough buttons to have a dedicated 'command companion' one. (yeah this game is such a bad console port)

Roleplay:

Gone. Just gone; you are the sad greiving mother/father on their mission to find their son, Shaun. Can you be an evil ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? No, because the dialog system allows for 4 options; Yes, No, Sarcastic and Info. Varitions of this are: Yes (good guy), Yes (while a jerk), Info, and Sarcastic Yes (while being sarcastic).

No skills either, no skill checks - remember when in FO3 or FO:NV that you could juryrig stuff and operate terminals using skills checks like Repair, Medicin or Survival? Nah mate, we dont want that, that might be a good thing. You get Perks instead, that are mostly simple percent increases...

Can you join evil factions outsied of the main story? Nah, why would you want that? Does settlements across the waste require constant micromanagement in relation to the settlement building? Yeah. Are you allowed a steady stream of Evil decisions and companions? Nope, there's only one, Cait, who isnt actually evil, just more in touch with reality than any of the other companions.

Basically if you want to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scumlord, scourge of the Commonwealth, be prepared to run out of content within five minutes.

Gameplay:

Boring, and FUN, and the same time. Every single quest is a variation of: Go here, shoot everything and return. There was only two questlines that were really good; The Silver Shroud and the one with Bobbi No-Nose, the rest? bland and boring shoot em up quests. The reason why it's still FUN, is because the shooting mechanics are solid, but its gets old very fast. See 'Radiant Quest' on google to learn more about the atrocity which are the quests in FO4.

Dont get me wrong, i still enjoy the game, and currently im on about ~80 hours. But realising that so much of the content is this game is from the 'radiant quest system' is heartbreaking.

I just cant recommend this game if you were looking to get an inproved version of FO3 and FO:NV

Below is my old review, which was made, when i couldnt get the game to start... And no, i wasnt the only one.

----------------------------------------------

What a waste of cash initially; game cant fullscreen with out crashing.

Had to go into the .ini files to fix the game. GG Bethesda, wont recommend purchase, because of this singular fact.

Still won't run fullscreen, so have to tweak my desktop resolution to play in ''fullscreen'' windowed...

EDIT: changed a rather angry mess, to a slightly more coherent mess.

Just finished it.

I liked every second of it; this revamp, breathes new life into an old game; optimised level design, better graphics and a new soundtrack to boot!

Gameplay:

It plays the same; some changes to the augmentations, like the power regulator, that now activates with some high energy use augs, are very neat.

Changes to map design, have also improved the gameplay, enviroments feel easier/harder to traverse. areas that were easy in the old game have been made harder, while the general navigation feel much easier, always making sure that youre on the right track.

SABOT (shotguns), Willy Pete (GEP), Darts and Flare Darts (Crossbow), EMP and Scramblers, are more frequent, meaning that you can actually start to use those types of ammo more frequently, one of the few things i disliked about the old game.

The mission areas, are well done and allow for great combat and stealth, meaning that the original pillars of the game have been improved.

Sound:

Some gun sounds have been reworked; like the silenced AR. It no longer shoots a single silenced shot, but an actual burst, which is great.

Weather effects like rain, sound really good, other ambient noises are great, especially in the city hubs, all make the game feel way more alive.

The biggest thing however, is the addition of a remixed soundtrack. The soundtrack is good, and i applaud their efforts, the only one i didnt like was the Hong Kong theme, but fear not! you can easily turn it off in the options menu, and play with the old soundtrack.

Graphics:

Huge improvement, with very few downsides. Hub areas have been reworked, and look beautiful (compared to the old game); they look like real places that ppl live, with apartments, that you can peek into, glass doors etc. Streets look like streets, and offices look like offices. There's more nook's and crannies to explore, and all the old secrets of the game, are still there, many, accessible trough new ways. In short, Hub areas and Mission areas, are greatly designed.

Posters, advertisements, clutter, garbage, all add to the feel of the hub's (much like the DX:HR style, but with an older engines limitations). The additions never really feel overdone, despite being very ambitious and large. Also, they really did a number on the light effects on the game; pretty much all look great.

However, you might want to ramp up the brightness a little, as the game is somewhat darker.

Weapons now have great models, where the weapon mods actually show on them; so you can see the laser pointer, the scopes, supressor etc. As far as i know, all weapons have new models, all which look great.

The only thing i didnt like was the new character models, damn they are fugly, but no problems, you can switch them off in th Options menu, so not really a problem.

All in all 9/11 would bomb the statue of liberty.

Early Access Review
Yeah, i do recommend this game - it's a solid WW2 shooter and, the devs seem very happy about providing feedback and response/status updates on what they are working on: they even host 30-45 minute streams, of them answering player question on a regular basis.

The only problem is the sometimes poopy grind, for some of the basic iconic weapons, but nothing that 8-10 hour of accumulated gameplay can solve. (at least for the most iconic weapons/tanks), one gripe with this game is that the handpistol (you dont have one, which makes sense, since youre not a officer) takes a long time to get to, which is annoying but not too bad.

Overall the mechanics are good, and the maps (too few, but more are on the way) are good, and designed assymtrically, and are usally played from different angles per each match.

CS:GO Review
This game is very shooty stabby - unlike CoD fagsimus maximus, this game has 360 no/quick/scope elit3 180 tripple kill factor elite ''person of interest'' mode enganged.

Game is very wow, much good - such impressive.

Also, fish in de_inferno is capable of rapid movement and can unto all other bombsites become the last spectator.

very much wow.
