Asylum still reigns as best.
This is more busy work than anything actually meaningful.
It still looks great and plays well but the sheer amount of THINGS is just so much fluff.
Batmobile overstays its welcome.
Riddler, while intentionally insufferable, also has pretty lame and somehow ALSO insufferable missions.
The constant misdirections feel more shallow than anything within the story and tbh, this is the absolute dumbest the Bat has ever been. Dude is constantly giving himself away and every answer comes out of thin air via a mcguffin device and just leaves you playing more "paint by numbers" on average.
I could rant endlessly about how it's both kinda good and shamefully mid as hell.

Even if I separate the RR namesake from the title, it's at best a heavy, lumbering Burnout clone.

Leaving this here for myself in case I get curious again.
FTP hellscape with alerts, mobile game ahhh layout, confusing UI, Endless grinding, clunky af movement that doesn't know if it want's to be mil sim or arcade, equipment grind hell where every soldier in every squad in every army needs their own purchased items, weapons, upgrades etc.
Never mind obvious wall hackers picking you off on first peak from flank~

Runs absolutely awful. Extremely long load times on an NVME, Extremely long shader bake times, failures to load properly beyond certain splash screens and despite various versions of Proton and allowing shaders to bake, it still stutters near constantly any time a new shader is loaded in. So constantly.

"Demo" ran fine. More than fine on the same rig, only difference is an upgraded GPU from a 30 to a 50 series.

Has major issues once things get going. Will lock my PC up entirely. Was reported two months ago and is a known issue in the community. No updates have been released or spoken of.

Spooky Update:
Still absolute RNG hell.
Game is seriously lacking in player agency with it's scant item bans and bloated item pools.
You either get the perfect mix of things within the first few levels or need to start over again, and again, and again.

Note: this has to do with late game unlocks and balance, which skews my review into negative.
If you want to put in a few hours it's a blast.

To start it's fantastic and a dopamine machine.
But the more you get into the weeds with it, the more problems rear their heads.

Serious balance issues, and not in the fun way.
You either break the game fast and stay ahead or you suffer a sudden and swift death at any moment.
Move or Die. You must learn movement tech in order to get to anything in a frantic race to get items, shrines and levels.
You have to get god tier RNG at times or accept that you are done.
The game is SO good at first and there can be so much more with a few tweaks.
It already wears its infuences on it's sleeve and lifting a few more ques from other titles has potential to be a modern classic.

While the game itself is fine, the choices around it are a problem.
The Head bob is unruly and sickening.
Auto pickup for resources doesn't always work and slows gameplay down entirely
Long cutscenes get in the way of Nazi chopping.

Without a list of mods it's annoying at the least. (Good luck if you're on Linux because the only good mod for all of this runs off a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ exe so get ready to battle Bottles with an unknown program)

Honestly why Machinegames doesn't offer very basic QOL options is beyond me and given the internet was and has been screaming about this stuff makes it more confusing.

I have no idea how I got through this the first time around due to them tbh.

What a genuinely fantastic game from a genuinely fantastic team.

They've taken a novel concept and just ran with it.

It's not afraid to wear it's influences directly on its shoulder while also excelling at so many things other games in the genre fall prey to.

The QOL is through the roof.
The mechanics and general loop are addicting.
The humor and self awareness is on point.
The optimization is unquestionably good.
AND the team themselves went above and beyond in so many ways with content that even after 1.0, before loading in, they STILL shocked my friend group by providing more FREE content as an EA thank you, which then we can use as hosts for our friends that don't have said DLC.

I think I've found my new favorite team to champion and praise any chance I get.

Update. It works!
Joined and was met with to obvious hackers insta-headshotting me when from peaking anywhere on the map and nothing but chopper no lifers racking up 100 + kills.
A major overhaul is the least of this games needed changes at this point.
About as fun as running my testicles across a cheese grater.

At current time of posting, the game is in an unplayable state unfortunately. If you check my hours, you can see that it did, indeed work on the same machine and multiple OS installs on said machine.
Shame.
