Very fun game (better with friends but a stealth playthrough is fun solo), the main gimmick that sets it apart mechanically is that you're not "fell tree, process tree into limbs, process limbs into sticks, pick up logs, sticks, bark, twigs to create shelter", you're always grabbing things out of somewhere dangerous, there's always monsters (which is good because they're a source of food), and with the power outlets system you get a sense for what areas are good to build a base, but no place is safe (except the Torii world, look that up if you feel like you need a more mellow base situation; understandable if you're playing solo).

Only caveat is that some progression gated behind random drops (example: you might need to kill a certain monster several times to get its heart, or a security key, or whatever), which is a little silly but whatever.

They're selling DLC while the game is unfinished. I get that they have to placate the paypigs that paid in advance for Battlepass and Deluxe, it's still gross.

Stuff that sucks:
- Supports (Pinaka, Luminae), there are only 2 of them and they are the only source of healing in a match. You live or die by whether or not you have a Healer, like always.
- BOT filler players even in Ranked. In order to keep queue times down, and because you can't lose Rank, most of your games are with BOT teammates and against BOT teammates and you can view this on websites like mechabreaker(dot)com or XBOX players can just see a BOT icon.
- Balance is pretty bad, if you aren't running the meta team comp you're going to lose if the other team is, assuming you even have human teammates
- Mashmak (extraction PvPvE game mode) is interesting but shallow, rife with balance problems, and requires Whales to buy into the market. Works okay in a game like Warframe but not in this game with barely 5,000 players.

Edit: It's been months and the game is still very buggy, you will lose progress, you will get disconnected, you will clip through the world and lose everything you spent 40 minutes gathering, friends will be unable to join, on and on and on.

Game just isn't worth the price, or arguably any price, when nearly flawless Co-op games like Deep Rock Galactic, Vermintide, Darktide, and numerous other popular Co-Op games exist. There's no reason to rush into buying this game right now.

Edit: Months after release, the game is in a much better state and worth playing. It's not as good as Vermintide 2, but it's worth picking up on sale if you aren't currently playing Deep Rock Galactic (the #1 co-op game right now, although it's not like VT2 stopped existing).
