The first 2 hours of this game are very confusing and tbh not very fun. It's basically a bunch of tutorials thrown at you without any breaks. The best way I can describe it is when you first play an MMO. I understand why people would be turned off by this. I almost felt the same. Once you get past the first chapter, the game opens up a lot more and you get more freedom. I have a few gripes with this game's UX, but it's not what some people are making it out to be. I will update this when I finish, but this game is massive. That's why I'm making this review now. 7 hours in, I'm having fun.

Side note - This might be one of the most optimized games I have played in a very long time.

This game does not age well. This is a game from 2009. One of the best years for gaming. I saw this game everywhere when I was growing up. Gamestop, game informer, the mall, TV ads, even my local grocery store sold it. This was considered a good game at the time. However, I don't think it really is that good tbh. For what it accomplished sure. Great start. The gameplay is great but then it progressively becomes more and more irritating to get through. The game is locked at 20+ fps. You cannot change that. Graphics are very weird. It feels like they tried to be realistic but couldn't because of the hardware so they lowered all models, making all the characters look like they are made out of mud. That's not even what is bad about the game, I can get past those. I have no idea what the story is even about. This game has cut scenes and "cut scenes" (Jimmy Neutron style mind blasts for every named character in the game you kill and there are a lot) and I just don't understand what started happening after the sister was abducted. You will be stunned in this game. A lot. Specifically after the 5th day. Normal is a very tall task to complete because enemies are built like brick houses from Yakuza 3. Enemies will knock you down. There is no dodge button so your only way to dodge is jump and spam the air dash button. Enemies can throw objects at you that defy the laws of physics. Enemies can hit you when they are downed, causing you to get stunned. Enemies will only target you and not the other Ai they were originally fighting. Enemies endlessly spawn which isn't an issue I have. What I do have an issue with is you get no wiggle room what so ever. The last boss made me quit the game. I just decided I had enough, I tried 3 times. I'm not even sure it's possible unless there is an upgrade I am missing. Which I have most upgrades, all core upgrades. You get the final boss to 40% hp and then you have a 1 minute timer to take out the boss. All of the guys who gave you health and your extra abilities leave. You have to just hit the final boss. Which can't be done in that time because he stuns you over and over and over. I just don't understand. I wouldn't call this a rage quit, it just made me question myself about this game. Was it worth it for my sanity to keep going until I beat the final boss (who btw is just an earlier boss fight but has way more health and copies 3 of your attacks attacks but they deal more damage) or could I save my sanity by watching someone else beat a game I didn't have any urge to be? (It's just a simple 20 second cutscene and then the game ends. It's not worth it)

The idea of this game is fun and enjoyable. I do like that you are just a little guy stealing treasures and then selling them. Being a little "rat". I do have a lot of issue with the store itself and it is faster just to sell at 70% - 50% off and go to a dungeon.

Very Big grind fest. Not really worth finishing tbh. Lots of recycled content too. Not worth $7

The amount of effort it takes to figure out what ghost you are hunting takes way too long. It is easier just to guess and do another run after you find the first 2 clues.
