♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ impeccable game from start to finish and it ain't even done. thought provoking, funny, charming, horrifying all in one package. everything from ace attorney that works without any of the weird baggage, then injected with a big ol syringe of pure style. keep on killin' it, folks.

This game is a genuine 10/10. I haven't connected with a story this much in a long time; Clair Obscur tells an incredibly mature, heartwrenching and ultimately, deeply human tale, elevated by incredible character chemistry, relieved by great humour, and served with the perfect side dish of tight, concise JRPG. Any critiques I have are minor (namely, some bosses that have very significant screen real estate have evasion telegraphs that are awkward to read), and at the end of the day, the game just doesn't have any true misses. Easy GotY for me, and one that'll go down as a classic for many, many years to come.

its peak. if you like zero escape or daganronpa or just good games you should look at this immediately. be prepared for a long ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ride though this game is 100% MEAT.

if you ever get told to pick Meat or Fish you're on the wrong path. leave now traveller. it's a snoozefest.

An immeasurably charming game with excellent gameplay, carved by developers who well and truly care about what they're making. One of the best titles I've ever played.

This is my first Steam review, because I really think this game deserves more praise. The developers took the original Half Life and applied an amazing fresh coat of paint; bringing the game into the modern era near seamlessly.

if I had to level any criticism towards Black Mesa, it would be regarding Xen. The updated version of the final chapters of HL1 is visually staggering, a real beauty to look at, and the gameplay is generally solid - I absolutely adore the Gonarch fight in particular. Outside of that, though, it suffers in several places from heavy repetition. "Do X thing 3 times to progress" is used in no less than 4 places before the end. Once or twice is fine, but done to this extent, it really felt like padding.

In my mind, this is the definitive way to experience HL1. If you've never played and want to see what all the fuss was about, or want to experience the classic again in a brand new way, Black Mesa is the game for you.
