Avoid this game for now. There might be a good game here down the line, but right now, you're playing Russian Roulette with your inventory and crafted items every time you log on. Logged off for the night? Half your inventory might be gone the next time you log in. Died and respawned? Congratulations, the tool you were using has turned into something completely different in your inventory. For a game built around extended production and crafting chains, it's inexcusable to have zero continuity for which items you actually have, and makes progression borderline impossible when things disappear or metamorphose into something else.

I can comfortably say I have never encountered a game that hates it's players more than Pax Dei. It's a game centered around building that doesn't actually let you build. It's a game with combat that punishes you for ever attempting to fight. It consumes your resources, and nothing is built or crafted. If you want to pay $40 for a tree-chopping simulator, this is right up your alley. Otherwise, avoid it.

It has hands down, the worst combat I've ever seen in a game, making every fight a miserable experience at best, and virtually impossible at worst. Enemies can launch themselves across the screen, hit straight through blocks, and attack before even drawing their weapons. While the combat is supposedly centered on strategy rather than just spamming attacks, it reality every fight is just a frantic DPS race that you come into at a severe disadvantage. If you do manage to win, expect to spend the next 4-5 minutes doing nothing and waiting on your health to slowly creep back up. I'd recommend using that downtime to browse the Steam store for a better game to play.

Developers sold the game based on the features included, such as various forms of fishing. After a few days went by, they began removing those features. Pair that with a tutorial conveniently paced to eat up your 2 hour refund window, and it's hard to see this game as anything but a scam.

This game is 100% a scam, as should have been obvious by the flat-out lies the developers told about it's pricing, and the way they extorted players by shutting down official servers on Survival Evolved. But even if it wasn't an out-and-out scam, it wouldn't be worth your money anyway. It's an even worse mess of a game than Survival Evolved was on it's original launch, but at least SE had the benefit of the doubt that comes with being an actually new game. All of the old game breaking bugs from 2015 are back, along with plenty of new ones.

On top of that, the game is completely unoptimized. With a 3080Ti, 12700k and 32GB of RAM, I have to turn the graphics down to the bare minimum to get a playable framerate. If you have any less than this for hardware, stay far away. If you have any more than this for hardware, still stay far away.

Game isn't supported well enough to be worth your money, even at the $7 sale price point it hits pretty often. At best you get one update a year, and all those do is add a meager amount of content, while game-breaking, save-ruining bugs that have been around for 5+ years go unaddressed.

An incredibly deep game, with vehicles representing a number of different nations, all of which are useless if they aren't Russian.

Not worth playing with the sheer amount of bugs. As time-intensive as Ark in regards to gathering materials, crafting, taming, etc. but in a much less stable game that can result in the loss of it all at any time, with no warning.

Great if you're looking for a CS:GO clone to pour money into.

A solid concept, but class balance issues leave the game virtually unplayable. Not worth your money until they are fixed.
