For 70 dollars there's a lot to be desired.

One note, its a good JRPG... but Steam sucks ass with its cloud save ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Back up your saves or you'll lose everything at some point.

This game crashes so much that its unplayable. I've gotten through the main campaign and the Black Cat DLC. But the Hammerhead DLC if you restart one mission it crashes. No matter what I change in the settings, No matter if i do a fresh PC restart. My drivers are all up to date. Nothing seems to fix this buggy POS. Now i'm screwed cause my auto save is corrupted and crashes on repeat.

If Insomniac actually fixes this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I might recommend this. But after so many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crashes on a system that has 64gbs of ram, a 3080 TI, and an I7-12700k I cant.

I was emailed at the start of the year they ended their subscription model. I was charged the subscription anyway.

Steam cant refund it, and FaceRig makes customer support hard to find.

Thanks for stealing 20 bucks.

I took the time and 100% this game.

Pros:
- Great Story.
- Typical tales style game play.
- 70+ Hours of content.

Cons:
- Healing and buffing is tied to an arbitrary resource pool for everyone instead of each character having a mana pool.
- DLC is a blatant cash grab when leveling to 100 and unlocking all of the skills isn't that hard or time consuming. The cosmetics do give you skills and artes but its not worth the money after paying 60 dollars for this game in the first place.
- Fishing mini-game is explained really badly and is frustrating.

Conclusion - If you like the Tales series you will enjoy this installment but if you're like me the DLC really puts a bad taste in your mouth. Hopefully this trend of making RPGs with DLC exp boosts will die out with this game but I know Bandai Namco will continue to develop games that way if people buy this crap.

The Best JRPG to come out in 2020 bar non!

Insanely fun and like the last one a interactive south park game. What more could anyone ask for?

This will be the only early access title I buy this year cause after I watched the PAX East trailer I had to play it. Its the smoothest running early access game I've ever played and the fact that it captures the spirit of the first game makes this an easy pick up for old timers. The Art and music are top notch, one of the few games i don't put Spotify on over to hear something different after many hours of playing. I'm impressed that this is in early access with how much polish has already gone into this game. 10/10 and I look forward to future updates.

Months later still playing this game every so often, the additional characters are a breath of fresh air given to this game along with new zones. Still waiting for the artifacts to drop but its well worth the wait.

the 1.0 release is spectacular. The new bosses and enemies are a great new challenge and the changes to the elite monsters make the game more balanced. If you're still on the fence about this game stop just get it and enjoy what these developers are making.

DLCs:

I'm liking the direction of the DLCs I just wish there was more to them for the prices. In comparision to like gunfire reborn there is a lot more replayability added with 6 dollar DLCs vs. Risk of Rain's 14 dollar DLCs

The games difficulty at the start makes it unplayable. Also I don't know why the developers were so keen on mapping the title screen buttons to W for up, S for down and Spacebar to confirm. It would have been simpler to just use a mouse but I'm not sure the developers understand how to program decent controls. I have played the game numerous times after patches and it seems the game never changes. Would I recommend this game, no. Its a badly thought out rouge like that tries to capitalize on using the title to deceive people into thinking its like a dungeon crawling 2d souls game. Its not.
