Absolutely gorgeous game, phenomenal story, enthralling soundtrack, and just difficult enough to keep you on the edge of your seat without being overly discouraging. The characters are multifaceted and lovable, and the plot twists and reveals don't stop until the very end!

10/10 game, my only regret is that I can't play it for the first time again.

Absolutely phenomenal game. It feels so great to play, I've only got 3 hours logged and I'm imagining the future combos of items I'll go for. The art style is so engaging, and the humor inherent in it hits all the right notes. Insanely high value for $5, incredibly worth it.

Edit: 12/9
I am leaving the below, unedited, to show where my opinions were 5 months ago. Boy howdy have they changed. My rose-colored glasses have slowly been removed and my feelings have heavily soured. The quality and difficulty of the content has left a lot to be desired. Any amount of interest I had in the game is gone, and from what I've heard about the .X content I'm glad I let my sub lapse.
I'll add revised comments to each of my points below. All edits below will be in brackets.

Most of people's problems with this expansion stem from 3 things: WoL taking a backseat, Wuk Lamat's characterization, and the story overall.

1. WoL taking a backseat
Welcome to the vacation arc folks, we're back to normal adventurer stuff. We're along for the ride again, and that's ok. It's gotta be a huge weight off of the WoL's shoulders not to be the tip of the sword for once. I feel like, in a narrative sense, I can actually take the time to work on side content. Yeah, in Endwalker I knew that the story would be waiting for me if I took a break, but the lack of a sense of urgency is lovely.

[Response 1: This was not, in fact, a nice vacation for the WoL. There were certainly some parts that were calmer than normal, but even those were spent doing Wuk Lamat's work for her instead of enjoying and learning about the new environment we were in. It felt like menial work at worst, and watching a train crash at best. At least you can't have done anything about the train crash. But comparing how many events occurred to the WoL's ability to prevent said events has me sorely disappointed.]

2. Wuk Lamat
If your main problem is that the person who literally hired you to help her out is taking up a lot of screen time, that's kind of on you for not tempering your expectations accordingly. We've never been to this continent before, she's a native with a lot of investment in what we're doing. Of course she's gonna be front and center. Showing us around, taking charge of quests, and talking a lot. Do y'all remember ARR Cid? Round 2. Regarding her characteristics, think of her position and how she was raised. It's only logical that she is how she is. Having finished the expansion, she's honestly become an excellent character, one who I can't wait to work alongside in future expansions(crossing my fingers).

[Response 2: Wow was I being a contrarian there, no doubt about it. Despite being able to anticipate potentially taking a back seat, the incompetence on display from Wuk Lamat when we are right there is downright infuriating. It feels like the WoL just turned their logic center off for a good portion of the story, just letting bad things happen due to Wuk Lamat's mismanagement instead of heading them off at the pass. It's not as though there were no stakes for us either. It would be one thing if we had no responsibilities here, no consequences besides failure, so we let Wuk Lamat fail and learn from her mistakes. But Zoraal Ja literally wanted to wage war on Eorzea, us losing to him would endanger an entire country's worth of people.
I do agree that her characteristics were logical regarding how she was raised. But I was absolutely in denial about her becoming an excellent character, she was a 7/10 at best. Just because it was logical doesn't mean it was good. Her "logical" character traits were incredibly annoying, and at best she became tolerable by the end of the story.]

3. The story itself
I've already covered the WoL's position in the story, so I'll now tackle the story itself. To sum up: Ishikawa and Oda are gone. This is a brand new team, writing a brand new story. Yeah it's not with a new cast of characters, but comics have been doing this for decades. If you don't like their writing, I'm sorry that their writing style isn't as palatable to you.

[Response 3: Not much to say here, except that I am also not a fan of the new team's writing. If you're a fan, I'm glad you're having fun.]

Lastly, to those of you who are seeing "Mixed" (as of 1 AM on 7/2) and are worried, or being convinced not to play it. Remember that the only people who have time to write reviews are the ones who stopped playing the expansion, and that someone with a negative opinion is more likely to make a review. Their opinions are as valid as the positive, but as of right now they're louder and they're not busy still playing the expansion.

This has been a blast so far, and I can't wait to keep on progressing through the levels! My only gripe is that the camera controls aren't reversible, my brain just doesn't bend that way I guess. Great work guys!

Utterly phenomenal. I have enjoyed every second of playing this game, and each moment is better than the last. Every class, for battling, crafting, and gathering materials, is available on a single character, meaning your options are functionally limitless. Could not recommend this enough
